The GOP has controlled Texas for a long time now. Statewide. That's not going to change soon. It's been the GOP, nationally, which has set itself on a course to deny as many voters as they can from exercising their rights - in areas where they believe the voters may vote Democratic. Anyone who truly loves this country and supports the democratic system should be outraged and oppose at every turn the extremist GOP efforts to tamper with elections. Stand up for America. Say NO!

If Texas can't figure out how to prevent voter fraud without a friendly, convenient, way to the voting populace, I would advise those idiots to step out and let me handle it.

Please. Let's not pretend voter id laws (and other laws making it difficult to vote) are about anything other than suppressing traditionally democratic voters.

Voting is the most central and sacred of institutions on which this country is built. Screwing with that right in the name of political gain is disgusting.
Why are "traditionally democratic voters" so stupid they can't get an ID??? ARe they all just driving to the polling stations illegaly too since they don't have a drivers license? What kind of insanity has to enter into ones head to think you shouldn't have to have an ID to vote?

There is a reason first and foremost, why Texas HAS TO SUBMIT it's voter/voting plans to the DOJ in the first place.

Research it, read it, and then you'll understand why the DOJ holds Texas to a much higher standard when it comes to placing restrictions on voting. And why Att. Gen. Abbott is also being looked at by the DOJ.

So if an election is held every 4 years and an eligible citizen wishes to cast a vote, he has FOUR YEARS to find the time to register?

Why would you block voter registration laws in TX and other states?

The only answer is that the Dems intend to flood the polling places with questionable voters. This is obama's only hope of winning in 2012.

The DOJ is, in the kindest terms, an embarassment and Holder is a blithering incompetent who is facing in the wrong direction.

When he recently said his opinion on another issue was based on what he read in the newspaper, the world stood still in awe of his lack of awareness and blatant demonstration of incompetence.

His statement that his position on AZ immigration legislation was declared without having read the actual legislation. It is very clear Holder is subjectively taking action without regard to law.

Elections are mattering less and less these days.

We elected state legislators to pass laws. Laws are passed, and then they are overruled - and then we have to spend money, which is lacking, fighting an overzealous and politically motivated DOJ.

This is not how it works in this country.
