Apparently, everything I read it was after. The kid was beating him up to protect himself and yelling for help the whole time. Then when the fat POS finally got his footing back he shot him.

I need the link to what you read. From what I have read the man was grossly stupid but most likely was acting in self-defense. A civil suit should definitely be pursued, with the information I have read so far no criminal charges apply.

Once again you don't get it! Maybe the block captain had no right to approach, but it seems many young black kid's seem to have a chip on there shoulder when asked a question, why is this? Maybe the kid got defensive when asked why he was where he shouldn't have been and if so, it may have escalated the situation. Survival 101, shut up and be polite.
