Why not do what he has done for everything else;drop the tax on gasoline because if the payroll tax drop is good then so is that.

Isn't it funny how more supply immediately caused oil prices to drop. Why won't Obama expand drilling and approve the pipeline? Oh, because his wacko treehuggers don't want him to.

This will actually have little affect, it is not a lack of oil that is causing the price of gas to be high. For those that undertsand the real situation they know there really is little the President (any President) can do about the price, any Repubs saying different is a LIAR.

Then what's the point of releasing oil from the SPR if it will "have little affect?"

Are you sure you understand?

You are not nuanced enough to see the brilliance in the one's apparently incoherent and contradictory energy policies.

Because he basically is against crude as a energy and his interest that fund him wants to get on to more expensive alterntives on the taxpayers money. That is why he isn't maximising the supply has much as we can contribute. He isn't even concerned with teh national security that have a safe supply would mean.

That is what they want you to believe is the cause of not drilling. Many of those in the ruling class hitch their wagon to the tree huggers as a side show, shielding what is really is going on. Please don't ask me what it truly is because I don't know. I'm sure our State Department and foreign affairs is knee deep into it. One thing I do know---tree huggers don't have that much power.

What exactly do you think he is responsible for?

To make us feel better. The reality is the price will not drop that much, summer is coming folks and the price is always high then, by the elections they will have dropped, as they always do at the end of the year. There was a good discussion on the issue on the PBS News Hour last night and both the conservative and liberal agreed on the causes of the problem and as usual disagreed on the temporary solution. The conservative suggested getting the states to drop some of their tax (we know they wont) along with some Federal reduction (neither adds up to that much). The liberal suggested what is being done now. Both agreed that neither solution will have much affect and that the President does not really have the power to change the price enough to be much help. And there ya go. It is going to be expensive for a while, get used to the idea, stop expecting the government to run everything, and wait for fall, the prices will go back down.
