You're right, but...requiring ID at the poll does nothing to stop fraudulent registrations. It does nothing to stop absentee abuse.
Well you'd get the same outcry if they had to produce ID to register.
As far as absentee...only military or people out of the country should be allowed. Everyone else..get your butt to the polls. No other way to safeguard it.
HARRISBURG—
After months of debate, the General Assembly passed the controversial Voter ID bill. Governor Tom Corbett signed it into law just hours later. Pennsylvania voters will now be required to show identification when they hit the polls.
The law requires voters to show ID each time they head to the polls.
Well you'd get the same outcry if they had to produce ID to register.
You have to provide residency and citizenship to register to vote--people can do that in a variety of ways. Registering to vote is not the same as voting, which despite the numerous attempts to explain to you, you've failed to understand.

Yes, the cancer patient who is bed-ridden needs to wheel his ass down to the polls. No other method exists to let this man vote. Besides, he'll be dead soon anyway, no reason to let his vote count.
There are legitimate needs for absentee ballots, and I support their widespread use for people who can't make it to the polls for which ever reason. Perhaps we should be focusing our efforts on real fraud, not this phony in-person fraud which really isn't a bid deal.
"This bill tries to fix something that isn't broken. We have heard over and over again, it's a solution in search of a problem," said Representative Frank Dermody, (D) Allegheny.
Interesting, we've been agreeing with this guy all along. I actually discovered that term (solution in search of a problem) while reading up on the FN 5.7x28mm. Glad to see other people like it too--the phrase.

Just recently in the news..a guy registered his dog to vote. Made up the SS and birth date and sent it in. Two weeks later he had a voter registration card in the mail for his dog.
Just checked Texas. You do not have to provide any proof with your application. just fill it in..check "yes" to citizen.

The dog owner said he saw a voter registration booth on the University of New Mexico's campus a few weeks ago and decided to see how easy it would be to register his dog to vote.
He said he was trying to expose the problems with the registration system. He said he just received the dog's voter registration card in the mail Wednesday, and it was way too easy.

That is the probelm there is'nt the type of fraud that needs to be watched, it is the redistricting by the republicans. They have taken cheating to a whole new level since Florida
It's the same game both sides play and if you aren't aware of it then you have your head in the sand.

Anyone regardless of their 'race' who has an interest in voting has four years to find the time to register and come up with a free ID.
It is crystal clear the Dems that now control the Dem party, have larceny in their hearts and are using 'race' as a shield to ensure last minute voters dragged off the streets, compensated and told who to vote for, will turn the tide for Obama in 2012.
As for voter fraud, ever hear of ACORN?
Recent articles report voter fraud is under reported. note the folks recently arrested for voter fraud. Colorado had an issue last Nov. As well as IL the cradle of Obama's style of politics.
Why would anyone, who wishes to maintain the sanctity of the vote, consider actions that would place the outcome of elections in jeopary?
It appears that the Dems who oppose voter IDs as it reduces participation of certain races are really saying, these 'victims' are so incompetent and irresponsible they need to have special considerations in order to appear on election day and cast a vote, after careful deliberation, for the candidate of their choice.
