On of the most effective and fair systems on earth. For differing reasons, both the US and UK could learn much from the German healthcare model.

Besides, America's Status Quo doesn't think anything should be done.

Of course that isn't true, we simply have a different vision. Who is scapgoating anyone? We are simply providing you with facts. If the facts don't fit your narrative, that isn't my problem.

I wonder how the US would implement any such system. The main obstacle would be mentality. Many Americans simply do not care about society, they don't have the vision of an egalitarian country, they love their classes so everyone can feel superior to someone else. They believe health is a good that should be bought, and who can't afford to buy it, doesn't deserve it.

Of course, America has a different vision. Profits over lives. Then wave the flag and sing the Stars Bungled Banner.

An exact description of America's "different vision".

I have no proof that most illegal immigrants work off the books. None whatsoever, and neither do you.

All nations are different from each other. That's no excuse to continue doing something that isn't working.

Again, the illegal immigrant argument is as lame now as it was when you first raised it. Just like the unemployment rate argument.

FYI
I started this thread, because we can be sure that hell would freeze over before the American media would report this news item. I understand German well and often use German online news sources. Originally, I heard this on the German news (ARD) and googled to find an English translation.

germany has a legal population of 81 million, the US is more than 300 million.

germany has an illegal population of 1 million, roughly, the US more than 15 million.

and while a single payer system works in germany, it does not scale upwards. germany has one government setting the mandates for health care, the US has 51. our mish mash of government mandates and restrictions means that we will never be able to have a single payer system.

Germans Confused Over U.S. Healthcare Debate | The Lund Report
"Under the German scheme people who make less than the equivalent of $58,212 per year are required to have health insurance on the public plan. Those earning more than that can insure themselves on the national health plan -- and pay the top rate -- or they can opt for private insurance which is mainly for high wage earners and self-employed people."

From the article... that is the main difference... a CHOICE... and those who want to join that plan will all share the costs together, meaning the costs is NOT shared by everyone... but they have a CHOICE... and if the funds are in trouble, it will be on the backs of those who are IN THAT PLAN not on everyone else... much different that what you imply...
