1995 Video of Eric Holder: We Must ‘Brainwash’ People Against Guns | Video | TheBlaze.com

I don't know about anyone else, but any government official, let alone the Attorney General, using the term "brainwashing" is disturbing.
Doc, I just read the entire thread and failed to see one of THEM mention that word. I wonder if they really think that they are burying that word with their deflection comments.

If you consider any program to change people's opinions as actual brainwashing, you'll find there's an awful lot of that going on, especially now as various candidates try to "brainwash" people into voting for them.
Not all attempts at changing people's opinions are brainwashing. Some are forthright and encourage critical thinking and conscious thought as in a debate. Brainwashing does not.

Noun 1. brainwashing - forcible indoctrination into a new set of attitudes and beliefs
indoctrination - teaching someone to accept doctrines uncritically

brainwashing - definition of brainwashing by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

And the anti-smoking crusade was preceded by a "pro smoking" campaign similar to how a healthier eating/low fat diet campaign was preceded by a "bacon & eggs" breakfast campaign all helped along by propaganda or brainwashing. The point is, government officials don't always know what is best for us or the best way to go about it, and to advocate for brainwashing us into agreeing to their "solution du jour" is just wrong.

Here is a brief example of the brainwashing of Edward Bernays, the father of propaganda. Yes, it has been going on effectively for a long time. Doesn't make it right, especially when its used by government; although, historically, it has been disasterously effective when done so, especially in Europe...

"In the 1920s, working for the American Tobacco Company, he sent a group of young models to march in the New York City parade. He then told the press that a group of women's rights marchers would light "Torches of Freedom". On his signal, the models lit Lucky Strike cigarettes in front of the eager photographers. The New York Times (1 April 1929) printed: "Group of Girls Puff at Cigarettes as a Gesture of 'Freedom'". This helped to break the taboo against women smoking in public. During this decade he also handled publicity for the NAACP.[18]"
"Bernays once engineered a "pancake breakfast" with vaudevillians for Calvin Coolidge in what is widely considered one of the first overt media acts for a president.[citation needed]"
"Bernays used his uncle Sigmund Freud's ideas to help convince the public, among other things, that bacon and eggs was the true all-American breakfast.[19]"
"Bernays attempted to help Venida hair nets company to get women to wear their hair longer so they would use hair nets more. The campaign failed but did get government officials to require hair nets for some jobs."

Edward Bernays - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here are some blast-from-the-past brainwashing images that helped sell women on the idea of smoking!

Thanks, but no thanks. We need to pass on a government that thinks it knows whats best for us and will use "brainwashing" to "help" us. Just follow the Constitution, please.

The Obama administration believes in brainwashing.. that is obvious.. Obama's agenda is to get the masses to believe he is a middle of road kind of guy , yet his people are radical thinkers and so is he.

Obama just saying he is going to transform this country... into what?

Obama uses his charm and likability to lead this nation into higher gas prices, food prices, and going for higher electric costs because it is his agenda , not the peoples..

His agenda has put us taxpayers in debt to the point that we will be crying down the road as we all have to pay the piper because Obama danced with his green energy policies and lost big.

I guess Obama supporters must be brainwashed.. they don't care if the cost of living is going higher and higher.. and it will go higher and higher. Food will again climb because energy prices are climbing.

We see thread after thread started here about Obama and Holder, many of them outright lies or half-truths and nearly all of them claiming they're traitors or engaging in some conspiracy or another. Strangely, both those men are black.

Why don't we see threads started about other members of the administration? On rare occasions, we'll see one about Sebelius, but that's about it.

If it's not racially motivated, why is that? Why just those two?

"If it's not racially motivated, why is that? Why just those two?"

These two are the highest-profile of the administration.

These two are the highest-profile of the administration.

Holder, at least, is high profile because the frightened uber-right wingers are kept in a state of fear of him by an endless flood of emails and threads like this one.

And, by the way, the Secretary of Defense is pretty high profile too, but nobody is accusing him of being a closet Marxist or engaging in some hidden conspiracy. Why is that? Could be that he's Hispanic and the GOP needs their votes, or is just simply because he's not black? And, how about Secretary of State Hillary Clinton? Why isn't she included? After all, she was the favorite whipping post while Bill was President, so it's not like the GOP has no experience in trashing her.

Default ERIC HOLDER: People should be ashamed to own guns

The same way you should be ashamed of giving guns to Mexico.
