There is no anti-immigrant law in Alabama and there never has been one, the law in question targets illegal immigrants but that doesn't have a nice racist ring to it so the SPLC twists the story to fit their agenda.
yep, anyone who has a problem with illegal immigration makes SPLCs list..

racist!!!!!!!!

My answer was in the context of race based "hate crimes" since that's what we were all talking about, pardon me for being relevant.

Your example is actually interesting because it points out exactly what's wrong with the hate crime scenario in the first place. If a group of white folks torture another white person why is that any less important than if the person being tortured happens to be gay? How does anyone really know what a person is/was thinking during a crime? You automatically want to increase punishment based on the person being gay when in reality that may have had nothing whatsoever to do with the crime.

Hate crime legislation is nothing more than a way to give preferential treatment to minority groups who crave attention and special treatment under the law.

I'm sorry i do not believe it is because Obama is black, people really need to keep both sides of him out of this.
Maybe some are upset, that he could not deliver his promise to us all of Hope n' Change, and they are fed up with the way of the Country, and how it is going.
People i know who do not like him, is not at all because of the Man's color, because like it or not, he is half white also.
It is because of policies, and the arrogance of the man. And because honestly he is no different at helping us any more then any other.
As far as crime goes, who in the hell cares who is doing the dang crime, people have gone mad, all races, all religions, both sexes, young old, does not matter, crime is crime and just plain wrong.

Hate groups of any kind are wrong, from the black-panthers, to the KKK these groups breed hatred, which is wrong.
I feel that Obama is a very important Man, but as far as the most powerful, i don't think so. Not for this year, he did make it in 2011.

Generally speaking, the POTUS is right up there at the top of the list in terms of world power.....yes, even President Obama.

As far as crime goes, who cares who is doing the crime? Well, clearly the people care because these statutes/laws are created by either state legislatures or Congress. Obviously, somebody cares because hate crime laws are on the books.

And why have harsher punishments for people convicted of hate crimes? Well, of course, to try to send a message that in this country we don't condone that kind of behavior. I guess basically it says that bigots who act out should think twice before doing so......at least that's my opinion.

Let me re-post the definition of hate crimes. And "Hate Crimes" generally is the subject of this thread. Not just white on black hate crimes.

In crime and law, hate crimes (also known as bias-motivated crimes) occur when a perpetrator targets a victim because of his or her perceived membership in a certain social group, usually defined by racial group, religion, sexual orientation, disability, class, ethnicity, nationality, age, sex, gender identity, social status or political affiliation.[1]

Hate crime - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When a group of white folks torture or harm a white gay guy BECAUSE he is gay, that is a hate crime. Have you forgotten about Jews being singled out for hate crimes simply because they are Jewish? How about people beating and killing homeless folks for the "fun" of it because they are homeless, poor, and easy targets? Or how about non-Muslims burning down the home of people who are believed to be Muslims because of 9/11? Those are just a few examples.

As for your thoughts in re white people, say, torturing another white person, well, if they do it BECAUSE the victim is white, or the white victim is, for example, a member of the KKK, then that is a hate crime. And, yes, indeed, "motive" can be established in criminal cases; it's done all the time. If you couldn't establish motive because you aren't in another person's mind literally (if that's your position) how do you determine whether or not a murder was premeditated if it appeared spur of the moment? How long does someone have to "intend" to kill someone else to be premeditated? And how do you KNOW how long they thought about it?

And why are hate crimes "more important"? Because the LAW says it deserves a harsher punishment. Of course you know how laws are made.

"The amount of hate groups in the U.S. have increased every year for the past 11 years.
According to a new report by the Southern Poverty Law Center, in 2011 there were 1,018 hate groups, which went up from 602 in 2000.
