I commend Finster for at least trying..........

The language of the bill has been posted and broken down.

It's flat out repulsive.

Some states have similar time lines in place - I have in-laws who are genetically predisposed to a genetic cross that will create a developmental issue where the internal organs grow too rapidly, destroy the other internal organs and prevent a viable existence for the fetus.

It's doesn't usually manifest until somewhere between 18-25 weeks ...... the genetics will typically kill the preganancy around 30-32 weeks ....... on one of their pregancies they actually had to go to that KS abortion doctor who was murdered since it was a 22 weeks when confirmed and they couldn't do anything after 20 except "let nature take its course" ....... not even getting into their treatment once they got there, the whole situation was unnecessarily cruel ...... these aren't people using abortion for birth control .... these are people who desparately want to raise a child, are having planned pregnancies and getting horrible, life shattering news

This legislation is cruel - party line doesn't matter, it simply is

I also know people who have had to have a dead fetus removed - it is done by a technique that would fall under the "abortion" classification

Just heartless to make these people suffer more and not even give them a choice in their care

Punishing women who want, or need, for whatever reasons, to exercise their right to choose is really what that last part is about. A man stood up, and seriously argued his bill by comparing women to cows, pigs, and chickens. No words of compassion or kindness. No apparent life experience losing a pregnancy at any stage, for any reason. None for mentally ill women who accidentally became pregnant, and fear passing along the illness. None for premature babies who should be loved and held and photographed by their parents as they gently pass away, not tortured by medical intervention after induction.

101 of Terry England's pals thought nothing wrong with comparing women to dumb animals, and babies to chickens. Who would stand by and watch a pregnant woman attempt suicide, and charge her with criminal abortion if she survived.

The Georgia House of Representatives voted 102-65 to enhance definitions of abortion, and when or how one may be carried out. You can read the bill here: http://www.legis.ga.gov/legislation/en-US/display/20112012/HB/954

Disgraceful.

You do know what all this leads to don't you? Forcing doctors to do abortions when it violates their conscience.
The doctors aren't "forced to do abortions". This is not about elective abortion of a viable fetus, this topic is about aborting a fetus that has already died and/or will die either before EDD, during labor, or shortly thereafter.

If parents wish to continue the pregnancy until such time as natural labor occurs, then that's up to them.

But there is no option for parents who would like to end the pregnancy when there is no hope for a good outcome, or if the fetus has already died.

It will be ILLEGAL to remove a dead fetus using any abortion method or causing a miscarriage with intent to remove a fetus over 20 weeks gestation.

Therefore, the woman is forced to carry the fetus and the father will be forced to endure the pain of it too. Not to mention the siblings of the fetus who are already here, and need a function pair of parents that are not being forced to go through this ridiculous nonsense where the dead fetus carries more right than the people who are alive and already here.

It's enough that their expected child is already dead, without putting them through this hell on top of it.

Thanks for this post. This shows that there are real human beings that will be adversely affected, to a terrible degree, by this legislation.

Apparently, thats too much for some folks to reason through, and I am not speaking of the politician.

Disgraceful.
Thanks for that. This to me is one of the worst parts, that the doctors will be forced to medically intervene on a baby regardless of its condition and prognosis. Against the parents wishes, if they object. We don't even do that to cows and pigs.

You folks can thank the partial abortion and rabid kill a baby whenever you want folks for this type of legislation. Perhaps your in laws should seek out a state that has laws that would fit their situation better. If they have this genetic defect they should adopt instead of trying to roll the dice and if they get seven pull out the hanger and get a new set of dice.

lol, the far right wants GOVERNMENT OUT of all things, except this, where the District Attorney gets all access to medical records.

janelle dear, doctors aren't "forced to give abortions". That would be illegal and against every woman's Constittutional Rights. Medical doctors advocate for the patient first. That's what the Hippocratic Oath is for, unlesss you happen to live in a dictatorship.

My God, we need jury reform if some of these posts are an example of how some women actually think the laws work. [smh]

My brother is a surgeon, no doctor worth his salt or skill would lower themselves to this .
The far right is pushing their lunatic agenda, as usual.

Another case of government interference on personal lives. Both parties are guilty of interference issues I must say. I heard or read somewhere that I believe one party was pushing for a law to still end the fetus life if the baby survives the abortion. Is that true? If so, I appreciate someone let me know. Take care.
