OP thumbs her nose at Muslims building a Mosque in NYC, yet wants to "protect religious freedom". It's quite hilarious, actually.

Jrose,
Do you know why we have laws?
Because, as Aristotle explained, not all men are angels.
People don't always do what is best for society. Sometimes they feel like having sex with someone who doesn't share the sentiment, sometimes they feel like killing a human being because they forgot to use birth control.

1. Same sex marriage laws infringe on the rights of children to be raised by the 2 children that created them & who help them learn to get along with both sexes. Homosexuality is sexual deviation, legalizing it isn't good for anyone. Changing the definition of homosexuality by the APA was not because of scientific research, but because of gay lobbyist harassment.

Think about it, Jrose.
Do you know why, we are on the outside of cages at the zoo?
Because unlike those mammals, we are born with brains only 25% developed, so we can better adapt to environmental influences. Homosexual preferences are mostly learned, as most deviated preferences are.

2. Do you know how abortion murders are performed? A long tube sucks out the baby's body, ripping it, limb by limb. The head remains in the womb because it's too big and must be manually crushed and then removed. Most abortions are performed around 12 weeks, when all body systems are intact (including the nervous system) and the baby CAN feel the pain of this horrific murder...

3. Birth control methods which prevent pregnancy, like condoms, pills etc. are good & responsible, IMO.

And in fact not 100% reliable.

1) then since it is about the rights of children, shouldn't there be a lwa outlawing divorce, requiring rapid remarriages of widdows, and mandatory marriage of all single parents.

In this country reproduction has nothing to do with marriage, just look at the unwed mother stats. There is no requirement to reproduce to get married.

I can honestly state that I never learned to be a lesbian. I tried to be straight, even got married, tried to pray away the gay, and went to counseling... still a lesbian.
How did you choose to be straight? having a choice would indicate that you were attracted to males, and females, and chose one over the other.

2) I have never had an abortion, but it is not my right to tell others what they can do. There is serious soul searching in most cases, and I know it isn't an easy decision for most women, but everyone has to make the best choice for their selves.

3) No form of chemical, barrier, or hormonal birth control is 100% effective.
But at least we agree on something.

Gizmo,
Laws are supposed to benefit society.
Who is the future of society? CHILDREN.
History, biology, studies and common sense tell us that children do best when raised by the 2 genders that created them... a mother and father.
It's not a matter of religion - but a matter of what is best for society & the future of society.

This country was founded on an idea of God... with various interpretations of who God is. Most of the founding documents include terms like "Lord." The pledge of allegiance includes the term, "One nation under God." It doesn't dictate how you must define God. For those of us who don't like the tyrannical interpretation given by warped religious tradition, can define God as that which we worship... that which is most important to us, as Philosopher Paul Tillich explained, "God is one's ultimate concern."

Abortion is murder, plain & simple as I explained in my previous post.
Only under extreme circumstances should it be allowed, yet as it is 97% of abortion killings are performed because the woman forgot birth control & chose to have sex anyway and finds the consequence of her decision, "inconvenient" & thus is allowed to murder another human life.

They only benefit if they are devised for personal freedoms within the community, not for curbing freedoms... then they are detrimental.

Wrong.
You just define God by the tyrannical grandpa in the sky...
So, of course a belief like that cannot be tested.
But who's to say that EVERYONE shares your belief in defining God?

If God is a creator, the fact that we are here proves a creation happened.
If God is that which we worship, or "ultimate concern," the fact that you are concerned enough to post on this forum, demonstrates influence of God.

As of 2006, 88 percent of abortions occurred before the end of the first trimester.
That video, which I did not watch, the fetus appears to be much later than that. I do disagree with late term abortions unless it is medically necessary.
