Consult a dictionary before you post. Censoring and condemning are two different concepts. A city council resolution has no teeth. This is a non-issue.
In other words the LA City Council is wasting their time and taxpayer money to pass a resolution that can't be enforced. Brilliant!
"The proposal cites a “long history of racially offensive comments as well as deplorable sexist remarks, particularly towards women and Black, Latino, and Asian communities” at KFI 640 and calls for parent company Clear Channel Communications and other broadcasters to hire a more diverse workforce to offset the trend."
Is that so they can have a diverse set of broadcasters who make deplorable sexist remarks?
[quote=Tall_Rep;23540825]Perhaps a thicker skin is what is in order for you then. Obviously YOU are the one who needs the lesson in what HATE is.
Let's be clear about something...you cannot condemn Rush Limbaugh for saying something that he should not have said and APOLOGIZED for, and then NOT hold Bill Maher to the same standard!! Unless you are a hypocrite...and to be honest, I never met a left winger who is NOT one.
Limbaugh said NOTHING CLOSE to the vicious things Maher has said about any and every conservative he can think of....and he saves his WORST for the conservative women...especially Sarah Palin. Agree with her or disagree with her...Maher has NO BUSINESS spewing that kind of disgusting hate...yet not ONE of you left wing buffoons condemn his one bit...not even any of the women's organizations stepped in and condemned his vitriolic assault. In fact...obama took his money with a smile and a thank you.
that pretty much SUMS UP the word HYPOCRITE. quote]
"LOS ANGELES (CBS) City Council members were one step closer on Wednesday to becoming the first in the nation to adopt a resolution condemning certain types of speech on public airwaves. Councilmember Jan Perry introduced legislation this week that would call upon media companies to ensure “on-air hosts do not use and promote racist and sexist slurs” on radio and other broadcasts."
Soooooo, on Los Angeles radio stations that play music with racist and sexist lyrics, it's okay and it's been okay for oh, at least the last 15 - 20 years but if you say it on talk radio, it's not okay. HYPOCRITES! Plus, they want to tell talk radio who they can and cant hire.

Geez, I sure hope someone in these seven pages has explained to you the difference between a resolution of condemnation and censorship. Sheeeeesh.
