We've all heard the rants about how Liberalism is a mental disorder, that Liberals are the "real" harbingers of hate.

Well, I thought I'd speak for the other side of things. I remember reading this in Psychology Today a few years back during the 2008 Presidential Campaign.

Enjoy the read, and discuss...

Is Political Conservatism a Mild Form of Insanity?

Is Political Conservatism a Mild Form of Insanity? | Psychology Today

Death anxiety, system instability, dogmatism/intolerance of ambiguity, closed-mindedness, low tolerance of uncertainty, high needs for order, structure, and closure, low integrative complexity, fear of threat and loss, and low self-esteem. The researchers conclude, a little chillingly, that “the core ideology of conservatism stresses resistance to change and a justification of inequality.”

It could also result from an accident i think.

Like, if the cord was wrapped around their neck at birth and they didn't get enough oxygen.

Or a bad head injury maybe?

It's very, very sad. We should all be kinder to them.

Yeah, because being fiscally conservative is just so "out there" you have to be sick to buy into it. LMAO!

Or it could be a chromosomal defect. It just breaks my heart.

If managing one's finances well, spending within one's means, and putting in place a blueprint for future growth and expecting the same of our government is a "mental disease", then I don't want to be "cured".

Suddenly logic and reason is a mental disease?

I think that this thread proves beyond any shadow of a doubt that liberalism is indeed a mental disorder.

Well on these boards, there certainly isn't a lack of evidence regarding the prevalence of this attribute amongst our conservative members.

This thread is an insult to the people who truly have mental disorders and the OP should be ashamed of him/herself for creating it.

The link makes perfect sense to me and addresses a political issue i've been wondering about for some time that issue being the rights need to hate everything.

While I definitely don't see it as a mental disorder, I think that anyone who thinks/votes strictly liberal/conservative is an idiot. Be your own person, think for yourself, do the research and make up your own mind. Everyone is liberal on some issues and conservative on others. Being a partisan puppet who is told what to think is pathetic.
