As for the rest of the topic, we will be ok in the long term. The British pound used to be the world reserve currency for the 19th century, and the country isn't some Mad Max world. The US does need a lot of humbling though

Where'd you get that? We have low gas prices (compared to the rest of the world) because we don't tax it as heavily. The actual cost for the fuel is about the same.
