I believe previous firearms convictions under a systen as draconic as Chicago's should be rendered void. This citizen needed a weapon handy and the city had no right to deprive him of his safety in his own home. Or anywhere else for that matter.
Not only that since Chicago is incapable or unwilling to stem the crime rate citizens should be able to be armed regardless of previous weapon convictions.
I love how the right always blames the media for false reporting and then they do the exact same. The story says he had 2 prior gun convictions. This probably meant he was not LAWFULLY allowed to possess a firearm. Hence the arrest for UNLAWFUL USE OF A FIREARM.
The shooter also appears to have a felony record, for theft or burglary I believe. I guess people are ok with thieves packing heat

Does that include citizens with criminal records, because that is the case of the old guy.

This situation does not compare. If someone breaks into your home, the owner have a right to disarm, shoot to wound or shoot to kill...whatever. That's the price the burglar pays when they break into someone's home.

Reading is FUNdamental...so is reading comprehension.
Oh, and just in case people get this confused with the Zimmerman/Martin case: they weren't outside in a common area of a condo complex, the 911 dispatcher didn't tell Wright not to pursue, Martin was NOT breaking any laws and nobody was killed.

This situation does not compare to what? Do you even understand the reason Stand Your Ground laws are created and passed into law?
I am not comparing anything I am TELLING you this is a classic example of the reasons why SYG laws are passed.
If our current system of Jurisprudence didn't make criminals out of victims then you wouldn't need SYG laws.
