Well, they are giving some truths there and I can't believe anyone would not advocate teens being abstinent....

But this kind of stuff, I believe, should not be geared towards teens.

It's fine for them to be interested in world events, it's fine for them to be interested in politics...that's great! But this is also the time for them to learn how to read, (and I mean, REALLY READ), the articles, understand what is being said to them, reading between the lines and making up their own minds by utilizing several sources.

I don't believe in telling teens that this side is better or that side is better. The best way to teach teens is to teach them how to research, where to research, (ie: NOT Wikipedia), how to debate, how to use facts, how to verify those facts, what ARE facts vs what are opinions, how to back up their claims, how to counter argue, etc.

I wouldn't condone this from a liberal rag, (or the liberal media but I guess that's too late), and I don't condone it from a conservative rag, either.

How radical, to talk to teens like they are thinking individuals with a future, instead of just a market to sell garbage to, or empty heads full of mush to be programmed. Most teen mags are 90% ads, this is full of ideas they may have never had the opportunity to hear. For teens that are hungry for information, this must be a Godsend. Why not? At least they are upfront about who they are and the philosophy they hold. It gives them another option. Freedom is all about choice.

Gee, sorry to hear it's a now-defunct publication! It sure could have helped to counter the subervise bias from oh...our government schools for example.

It died from lack of interest, not enough subscribers. Too bad, it was worth a try to counter the indoctrination we know they are already getting.
The columnists would have been John Stossel, Walter E Williams, and Michael Reagan.

IMHO that is worse than a magazine which isn't forced on kids.
