There is rarely a correlation between what is true and what is convenient.

Since that frees up ICE resources to more aggressively pursue those who have been convinced of serious crimes... why would you object to that?

DOJ is projecting the same criticism level against it by Issa re guns walking into MX.

"We believe that you are wasting time and not negotiating in good faith," Deputy Assistant Attorney General Roy Austin wrote in a letter to Arpaio's lawyer obtained by TPM. "Your tactics have required DOJ to squander valuable time and resources."

The duplicity is Amazing!
but predictable under Holder

Holder has initiated a new civil war, except the war is between the states and Obama's DOJ.

There is no reason that all illegals can't be saught after and it is the law so therefore my objection to the picking and choosing of enforcing our immigration laws. In many ways those who haven't "yet" been convicted of a serious crime are just as devastating to our society, economically, fiscally and in so many other ways.

It's a funny thing but I read HuffPo every day and the CBC news. Now, the CBC news is under the Canadian Broadcast laws that require TRUTH in all news reported and requires retractions and public announcements when they are wrong. HuffPo and the CBC news could have been written by the same writer they are so similar on FACTUAL reporting. Now, of course in ediditorial reports HuffPo is always going to present a liberal side of things.

That's just dumb. It's like saying "there is no reason why everybody can't visit the International space station." Since it always costs something to do something, and since resources are limited, there is a thing called "the point of diminishing returns."

Look it up.

"In many ways" is a mealy mouthed phrase used as filler to disguise the fact that there is no genuine argument to be made here. Given any two "illegals" it is both stupid and self destructive to not prioritize getting rid of the one who is a convicted criminal over the one who is not.

Justice Department To Sue Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio Over Civil Rights Abuses

Ryan J. Reillyn April 11, 2012, 11:35 PM

The Justice Department has given up on settling with Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio and is planning to sue the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office for systematic civil rights abuses of Hispanic residents, a DOJ official indicated in a terse letter to Arpaio’s lawyer on Wednesday.

“It is clear that DOJ’s concerted effort to attain voluntary compliance by your client has failed,” Deputy Assistant Attorney General Roy Austin of DOJ’s Civil Rights Division wrote in a letter to Arpaio lawyer Joseph Popolizio obtained by TPM.

“It is also clear that we should not discuss anything else by telephone because you will not accurately portray those conversations,” Austin wrote. “At this point, it is best to let a court determine the appropriateness of appointing an independent monitor as well as imposing other relief in order to address MCSO’s constitutional and federal statutory violations.”

Arpaio’s office first came under federal scrutiny back in 2008, and DOJ announced in December that its probe found that Arpaio had “promoted a culture of bias” and that his officers had discriminated against Latinos. DOJ and Arpaio have been in contentious negotiations over the findings for months, but prospects now appear dim for a negotiated settlement.
