U.S. teen birth rate drops to a record low – - CNN.com Blogs

Thank you MTV!

Quote:
The rates dropped across all racial and ethnic groups, and nearly all states. Experts suggested that the numbers may mean more teens are delaying sex or using contraception, representing gains for both abstinence-only and contraceptive education programs.
Quote:
A report released last year found that the rate of teenagers having sex decreased slightly, following an overall trend of decline in teenage sex in the last 20 years. Recent data has found increased use of contraception, such as condoms and hormonal birth control.

I would think twice before having kids too if I woke up every morning and saw what was becoming of my country.

Dr. Drew is making some progress. Maybe Celebrity Rehab will help with our drug crisis.

IMO, almost all teens who use birth control or abstain from sex, do so because they believe that it is not in their own best interests to get pregnant or to have sex. Whether it's to not ruin their lives or to save their souls.
And they're right (at least about it ruining their lives). Older people I can see making a conscious decision not to bring children into the world because they think it's a bad place, but teens...not so much. It's more the nature of the teenaged beast to be egocentric.
