President Obama recently diverted half a billion dollars to the IRS to help implement Obamacare. And now the latest budget for the Internal Revenue Service, calls for more than a thousand more IRS agents to handle the "requirements" of Obamacare.
Did I miss the government's explanation, of how all this beefing up and funding of the IRS, is going to improve access to health care, lower its costs, and make Americans healthier?
Did anybody else hear this explained?
A thousand new IRS agents. They're from the government, and they're here to help you.
Healthcare Reform Law Requires New IRS Army Of 1,054
by Paul Bedard
February 15, 2011
The Internal Revenue Service says it will need an battalion of 1,054 new auditors and staffers and new facilities at a cost to taxpayers of more than $359 million in fiscal 2012 just to watch over the initial implementation of President Obama's healthcare reforms. Among the new corps will be 81 workers assigned to make sure tanning salons pay a new 10 percent excise tax. Their cost: $11.5 million.
"The ACA [Affordable Care Act] will require additional resources to build new IT systems; modify existing tax processing systems; provide taxpayer outreach and assistance services; make enhancements to notices, collections, and case management systems to address and resolve taxpayer issues timely and accurately; and conduct focused examinations to encourage compliance," said the newly released IRS budget.
Well the governamnt actaully estimates that tax cheaters cost 300 billion per year i losss revenues owed. Bt the real solutio is to simlify the tax code and base it on total compenstion that would increase revnues overall and make it hard to cheat and eaaier to ctach those that do withmuch fewwer resources such as hiring auditors such as these. It seems senate finace committteee is lokng more and more at just that and the last proposal is a 29 line ;one page tax return. As time goes by it broadens its support ans likely has we start to pay off the deficit with all its conseqauences it will gain even more support. We have run out of the spend and tax the rich as its casuing huge conseqauences since adopted in the mid 60's.Its driven exactly what we see now in this recession that companies are still making profits;lowering the bottom line and make business more effecient by labor cuts whetehr by paying fewwr more or by automating being cheaper choice.Efficency is always cost driven no matter what.
