Do you prefer the private sector control of government, which we have now?

There's an ism for that too...Fascism.

So I read the Cypress Times "article" and the only source it claimed was from the Canada Free Press

Democratic Socialists of Congress: Meet the Members

But they had not sources either.

This claim "ALL members of these two congressional committees represent the Democratic Socialists of America, as both committees are the creation of, and operate under the control of DSAUSA."

MUST be verified. Basic journalism 101. And it isn't.

So this appear to be urban legend until proven otherwise.

Default Democrat Socialists of America - A Closer Look

Since it has come up this week, I wanted to take a direct look at what this group wants for this country - because they are looking to redesign the country away from its original intent.

What is Democratic Socialism?

This is their answer with my comments below.

Democratic socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically—to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few. To achieve a more just society, many structures of our government and economy must be radically transformed through greater economic and social democracy so that ordinary Americans can participate in the many decisions that affect our lives.

Democracy and socialism go hand in hand. All over the world, wherever the idea of democracy has taken root, the vision of socialism has taken root as well—everywhere but in the United States. Because of this, many false ideas about socialism have developed in the US. With this pamphlet, we hope to answer some of your questions about socialism.

Regarding the blue - Who determines this? The fact that someone determines what private citizens have limits freedom and reduces ones incentive to work since they won't receive the full fruits of their efforts.

Regarding the red - Interesting that the U.S. is the only place their view of "democracy" has NOT taken place - and somehow we have outperformed all other countries. Maybe that implies that there is something special about what we have here that all other countries don't have.

I also notice they use the term democracy, but and try to link it to socialism. We are not a pure democracy. Our system of government is a representative democracy, which is really a republic. That's how we are set up.

The OP got his nonsense from idiot Congressman Allen West, who asserted:

Quote:
“I believe there is about 78 to 81 members of the Democratic Party that are members of the Communist Party.”
Bill Maher: “This could be a teaching moment, could it not for the teabaggers? Or maybe all of America – who don’t understand that socialism doesn’t mean we’re going to come to your house and make you work on a collective farm. You know, in Europe, socialism is just another political party and it doesn’t mean that we’re against making a profit.”

You know, I just started a thread about 10 minutes ago to discuss the material of the Democrat Socialists of America and it was wiped away as though it never existed - and I mean fast.

Normally when threads are closed, you can still see the thread - but not that thread.

One of the human filters does not want the truth of the DSA on C-D.

It's really funny how the right-wing, which has billions of corporate money thanks to Citizens United, is worried about the Democrat Socialists of America, as if it has any influence at all. I'm sure it feeds neatly into their vision of a vast left-wing conspiracy.

News flash: the Progressive caucus is not the Democrat Socialists of America.

The Global Economy
In the emerging global capitalist economy the controlling economic institutions - the transnational corporations - have integrated financing, production, distribution and consumption on a vast scale. They now have the capacity to function as "stateless" institutions, relatively independent of any particular national economy.

National governments, even in Western Europe and North America, have ever more difficulty controlling capital, currency flows, and investment while defending the living standards of working people. The result is that the majority of wage and income earners in the advanced capitalist nations are now experiencing a long-term leveling down of wages and living conditions tantamount to a gradual impoverishment of this vast working class. The extent of impoverishment is in dispute, but many economists now believe that only one-fifth of the population is rising in affluence, while the rest are suffering a gradual or abrupt erosion of their living standards.

Through globalization, capital eludes governmental regulation. The movement of capital across borders, unlike the movement of labor, is all but unrestricted. Indeed, under the World Trade Organization and the North American Free Trade Agreement, laws protecting the rights of workers can be deemed a barrier to free trade.

Sounds good to me.
Sounds very good. As Bush "the first" said soon after he was elected, "Welcome to the new world order" and now we see its fruits. Every president since has been in lockstep with this new order, regardless of the party in all the houses. Whether you are on the right or the left this should be a common concern for both. Unless you and your family benefit directly from this giant pyramid, like Romney for example, or those soon to be like Obama.

News flash: Yes they are.

You can be in denial if you want. You only fool yourself.
