Right wing person: "I believe there is a God, we should have less government, lower taxes and more liberty"
Liberal response: "Only an idiot would believe that! We must have the government pass laws against people like you! I hate religious zealots and people who obviously want to hurt the poor!"
While it's very clear that this is just a thread designed to bash people who have different opinions than the OP, I'm going to climb out on the limb here.
Instead of Bighouse's liberal response, I think the actual liberal response would go more like this
"Most people do believe in God. As long as you don't try to force me to practice religion in the way you think it should be practiced, don't try to force anyone to practice religion in the way you think it should be practiced, I'm all for you believing in anything you wish. I would like less government, too. I don't think we need laws telling people what to do all the time. I'd like lower taxes, too, while we're discussing it. I wish more conservatives felt the way you do. More liberty. That includes people marrying another consenting adult whom they love, regardless of gender, right? That includes people having sex even when they don't want children, right? That includes people reading whatever books they are interested in, and watching whatever movies they like, right? I'm a big fan of liberty. And I'm so glad that we have some common ground to start a productive conversation. The throwing insults back and forth really isn't productive at all."

Well, the most foolish liberal misinterpretation is thinking those who use such charming little sobriquets as '*******' may actually have something intelligent and constructive to say
And the most common conservative misinterpretation?
Liberal: I disagree with you because.........................................
Conservative: You are an America-hating, COMMIE!, FASCIST! ,SOCIALIST!, ATHEIST!, HIPPIE!
You forgot...Entitlement, Lazy, Welfare, Thug
