Do you think today's youth (Generation Y, The Millenials) - let's use 15 to 30 as an age range - are better, worse, or average, compared with past generations of American youth?

Worse, they have had far more indoctrination of leftist thinking by the teacher's union than all other generations.
The best description I've heard for most of these people are: "ENTITLEMENT MONSTERS".

They don't understand the concept that you earn a home in 30 years. There is not much free out in the real world, but they expect a lot of it.

My observations:
1. Work ethic is less apparent.
2. Entitlment minded
3. Less driven
4. more demanding.
Todays youth are used to video games and parents more interested in trying to be their friend than being the parent. They lack the disipline of my generation and I am sure mine lacked that of my parents.

Same.

And when they are older they'll bemoan the state of the youth too.

They are not the same, prior generations didn't beg to stay home with the parents and for everyone to pay for their education and condoms.

This generation invented the term: Entitlement Monsters!

Worse.
Years of helicopter parenting and governance have made scads of them unable to take care of themselves.

Sure they did. Many state university systems were free or charged a nominal fee for residents up into the 1970's. A large number of grants and bills offered free money for college students after WWII.

Are you kidding me. I have never heard of any kid begging their parents to let them stay home lol My parents had 5 kids and they thought our education was just a part of raising us. That included paying for college. I feel the same way about raising my kids. Isn't education part of your responsibility to your kids.
