The TSA thinks that everyone who flies is a potential threat - even 100 year old grandmothers and infants under 6 mos of age. However a review of recent history concerning terrorist attacks shows a very interesting commonality. Are we blinding ourselves to the actual threats to our security and setting ourselves up for another 9/11? Take the following quiz and see how well you do.

(I am not the author of this quiz - the writer is unknown - I have transcribed the quiz from the book Flying Blind: How Political Correctness Continues to Compromise Airline Safety Post 9/11. - by Michael Smerconish.)

1. In 1979, the U.S. embassy in Iran was taken over by:
(a) Norwegians from Ballard
(b) Elvis
(c) A tour bus full of 80 year old women
(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

2. In 1983, the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by:
(a) A pizza delivery boy
(b) Crazed feminists screeching that being able to throw a grenade beyond one's own burst radius was an unfair and sexist requirement in basic training

(c) Geraldo Rivera making up for a slow news day
(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

3. In 1985, the cruise ship Achille Lauro was hijacked and a 70 year old American passenger was murdered in his wheelchair and thrown overboard by:
(a) The Smurfs
(b) Davy Jones
(C) The Little Mermaid
(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

4. In 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by:
(a) Luca Brazzi, for not being given a part in "Godfather 2"
(b) The Tooth Fairy
(c) Butch and Sundance who had a few sticks of dynamite left over from the train thing

(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

5. On October 12, 2000, 17 U.S. sailors lost there lives on the USS Cole, and this was done by:

(a) The purple Teletubbie
(b) Gary Condit
(c) LA Crips
(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

6. On 9/11/01, four airliners were hijacked and destroyed by:
(a) Bugs Bunny
(b) The Supreme Court of Florida trying to outdo their attempted hijacking of the 2000 Presidential election

(c) Mr. Bean
(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

7. In December 2001, a person tries to light a shoe bomb on a commercial jetliner and this was done by:
(a) Mother Theresa
(b) An Italian guy from New York City named "Giacomo"
(c) Hardworking Hispanic farm workers
(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

How are you doing so far. Do you have a perfect score? Do you see a pattern emerging? Good! Here is the last one!

8. In 2002 reporter Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and murdered by:
(a) Bonnie and Clyde
(b) Captain Kangaroo
(c) Billy Graham
(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

If you answered (d) for all of the above questions - CONGRATULATIONS! You get an A+!

I wonder why the employees of the TSA aren't required to take this quiz...oh well - maybe they really do think that those 100 year old grandmothers in wheelchairs should be put through pat down searches...

Go figure.

And remember, Muslim is a member of Islam, not a race.

Go read the WSJ today. The former head of the TSA thinks the system is broken. He advocates loosening the standards dramatically.

I didn't realize the TSA was involved in 1, 2, 5, and 8 on the OP's list.

The point of my post is that terrorism isn't the exclusive domain of "Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40". If we narrow the focus of anti-terrorism efforts to such a narrow range, then don't be surprised when we get hit by somebody else.

The topic was "TSA", but I agree on 1,2,5,8.

You will never stop all of the crazies. There are not enough resources. We should at least focus our limited resources on those who have a stated goal to harm us first.

Why blame the Teletubbies?
