Basically Latin American countries are through blindly following American policy. They are gaining enough economic muscle and political clout on their own where its no longer necessary. The only thing the current American policy does it **** off other Latin American countries and give other countries like China greater influence in the region.
I think we can care what the leaders of the Latin American nations think when their citizens decide they want to start staying in them. How can anyone respect their views on things when you see the big exodus of their people coming to the USA?

And when Cuba starts seeing the big influx of latinos into Cuba that we're seeing in the USA, then we can worry about how much more latinos prefer Castro. The real vote is for the American money and our materialistic way of life. The rest is just empty words.

Only because there's just enough of them to swing Florida. Where almost all of them live.

If they were dispersed across several states, or were truly tiny (like Afghan-Americans, who are richer than Cuban-Americans and who were likewise driven out by the Reds), nobody would care.

Cubans are one of the largest Latino groups. What are you talking about?

Mexicans are the first largest. Second largest are Puerto Ricans, and third largest are Cubans.

The USA would still prefer right wing dictators that allow American corporations to rape and pillage however they desire.

After booting out the 1%'ers and the elites, life got much better for the poor in Cuba under Castro. Someone mentioned the poor risking sharks, riding to Miami on inner-tubes, etc. That's not a reflection of the system of Government though, that's a reaction of the desperate poverty that the US trade embargo has caused for the people of Cuba. Prior to the fall of the Soviet Union they had the things they needed, which is why the exodus of the poor came after 1989. I'm not suggesting Castro's way is perfect, but it's no less flawed than the US system. It's disingenuous to place a world-wide trade embargo on Cuba and when they run out of food, to point to the exodus of desperate people and say "See Socialism doesn't work".

Exactly. What people fail to understand is Cuba already tried the US/Corporate/Dictator (Batista) system and they rejected it in favor of Socialism back in 1959.

I learned along time ago to not mention Castro to older Cubans unless you have a lot of time to listen.

I'm quite sure that Cuba would have long ago evolved into a social democracy if it were not for being cut off by Yankee Imperialism. It's just another case of uncle Sam getting the exact opposite result from idiot foreign policy than what would be in US interests.
