Your trust is misplaced and too simply obtained. After the next big event caused by one of these 'bad guys', I'll be looking at my own government as the true source, like most rational people. Who else would someone suspect? Our government is wrapped in secrecy, that's highly suspicious and puts them at the top of the list. So, please, don't tell me I have no right to complain or that I should keep my mouth shut. Is the elimination of free speech the next rung on the ladder to totalitarianism? You won't take that from me unless you cut out my tongue. I will not give up my freedom just so someone else can insult me.

Oh, and the recent track record for America's intelligence system is anything but intelligent. The stuff they manufacture is hilarious.
your posts aren't even worth comment anymore..

In any case, how can something be a secret if someone with a basic understanding of electronics could pull the device apart and see the mechanisms that make this possible?
I think there are a lot of things that some people know, but most people don't.. so yes, something can be well known in a certain group of people, but be a complete secret to most others. That's basically how most intelligence collection equipment works and people that are into tinkering, phreaking, hacking etc. are the ones that tend to build the toys they use..

It's been known for years. How do you think the gps directions work. If you can find where you are, they can find where you are.

Don't overlook the fact that your high-speed Internet connection, coupled with your computer's microphone and camera, is also more than likely used as a government eavesdropping device - for your own protection.

Next time you are having a private moment at your favorite pornographic website, be sure to smile and grunt loudly for the web cam and microphone...

On the bright side, this will surely bring us the security that we all so desperately seek. Why spend the trillions on cancer research or other proven (i.e. more likely) risks when we can all be scared of hypothetical terror attacks?

"They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security."

-Benjamin Franklin

Just think of the ways you can have fun with this. When I heard this story, I upgraded to a videophone, assuming that now when it is turned off, the feds can actually see me. Now, I walk around the house naked with my sixty year old figure that shows all the trips to McDonald's I have made over the years. I am sure some guy at FBI just quit saying that he is moving to a less disgusting job to a pig farm in Arkansas.

That is creepy.

You know the static-like sound that a radio will make if a nearby cellphone starts ringing? Well when I am having trouble sleeping, I turn on the radio and the cell phone is on the nightstand next to it. It makes that noise off and on throughout the night.

Has anyone else noticed this?

uhhh, ok, stupid question here, they can hear converstions that recently took place on the phone, or conversations that are going on in the background of where the phone is sitting?

Real time/where the phone is sitting...of course, in theory they also had access to listen to the recent conversations [as they occurred] as well.
