So someone who hires an accountant to pay less than their secretary is stupid? Who's the smartest person in the world in your mind, a guy who never takes deductions, owns a time share, land in the Everglades and has all his money in Best Buy and Kodak stock?
Wouldn't an intelligent person make sure that he didn't pay a lower rate than his secretary?.
No, an intelligent person wouldn't. The intelligent person takes advantage of all the law allows him/her to do. A stupid person is the one who doesn't do that.

An American citizen is not obligated to pay one penny more than the tax code demands.
That's right. They are not obligated to pay more. But if they're gonna scream around and have hissy fits about how it's not fair that they pay a smaller % than their secretaries, just write a bigger check on your own, you ignorant doofus.
Yes, people like the hollywood idiots, Buffey, those with that silly mindset aren't smart enough to figure out how to pay more.
Wouldn't an intelligent person know the POTUS doesn't write the tax code?
If the President is going to present it (the tax hike) he should know what he's talking about. I can see he doesn't know the difference in one paying taxes on capital gains (Buffett) or regular wage earners(his secretary).
Then again the mega-billionaire simply could say: "I back the section in the President's new plan which would raise the tax rate on carried interest, or a share of the profits, to the regular income tax rate instead of the lower 20% capital gains rate that I and other investment managers now pay?" That carried interest is not subject to payroll taxes, either, keeping Buffett's tax bill low.
If Buffett cares so much that he is not paying enough, why doesn't Buffett just outright pay, 70% of his income to the government directly. Instead of roping everyone else into paying higher taxes to satisfy his conscience about fairness, which doesn't address the government's waste of tax dollars they've spent already?

Obviously because it would merely be a meaningless gesture that failed to solve the problem.
