Trotsky, Zinoviev, and Kamenev did not self-identify as Jews, they self-identified as communists.

How do Jews get excommunicated? There isn't a Jewish Vatican.

I don't care what Trotsky, Zinoviev self-identified as they were Jews and self-hating ones at that. Believe me most Jews would love if we all of a sudden found out Trotsky was adopted and really wasn't Jewish.

where do you think the Catholics got the concept from?

they excommunicated in in Odessa in 1918, by the Ukrainian rabbinical congress. I also know Trotsky was excommunicated by the Chofetz Chaim not sure if this was same one as the first excommunication or a second one.

A hard core careerist really has no true regard for anyone. His interests are for himself- first time I saw Obama..I* got turned off - He swaggers and struts..and likes power a little to much to be reasonable.

I acknowledge that Orthodox Jews will vote predominately for Republicans. This has been true for a long time--even before President Obama was president.

That being said, most American Jews are either not affiliated or they are Reform or Conservative. I got these statistics from the Jewish Federation Website:
Ten percent of American Jews consider themselves to be Orthodox. Orthodox 10%. Conservative. 26%. Reform 35%.

Obama won 78% of the Jewish vote in the last election. I'm sure most of those weren't Orthodox, but I would guess that the number will be similar in the next election as well.
on page 54
http://www.rcms2010.org/press_releas...2020120501.pdf

there are 947,020 Orthodox Jews in America according to this. There are not even close to 9,470,200 jews in America. according to the federation there are 6,588,065 Jews in America assuming both numbers are actuate Orthodox Jews are now 14.4% of all Jews. (and are growing fast)

American Jews have always stood on the leftist side of the political spectrum. They are involved in higher education, Hollywood, political activism and even porn, all of those traditionally associated with progressive values. I don't see Obama losing the Jewish vote, at least to the GOP candidate. Maybe very liberal Jews may feel disappointed Obama didn't go further on his progressive politics, but they certainly will vote for him only for the purpose of defeating Romney

Nobody's debating that Obama will get the majority of the overall Jewish vote. The question we seem to have lost sight of is this:

Polls show Obama getting roughly 60% of the nation's Jewish vote if the election were held today. That's compared to the 79% he won during the last presidential election. So if those numbers hold true and do not radically change, can Obama re-win the White House with such a substantial drop in Jewish support?

I can't possibly know the answer (nor can any of you). But it's simply a feather in Romney's hat, that (even if by default) he will get a larger amount of support from America's Jews this election than any national republican candidate has had in a long time. And since Jews tend to live in many swing states (Ohio, Florida, Missouri, Pennsylvania, for instance), will it be the tipping point in what appears to be a close election looming in November?

A liberal Jew is liberal first, Jewish second.

Where in the world is there a centralized Jewish authority comparable to the Vatican?

in Jerusalem on the Temple Mount 2000 years ago.

look up cherem the Jewish community has used this many times over the past 2000 years up until the break down of jewish community's (chief rabbis (even in Israel the chief rabbinate is a joke) and a real power structure). now there is almost no real Jewish community but a bunch of overlapping Jewish communities. the modern Jewish community is a melting pot of all Jewish communities from around the world.

I knew about the Temple, but there hasn't been any centralized Jewish authority since then.
