Actually, as a visiting nurse/public health nurse, I've walked and driven through many a black/latino community, and I am white.
I suspect that most of the Zimmerman supporters here have never been in the presence of more than 2 black people at the same time since they seem to be under the impression that the only way to live through it are to kill people.

I was wondering why a legal defense fund is to be treated as a personal asset.

It was not that kind of "legal defense fund." When zimmerman set up the account, he asked for money to help pay his legal fees and LIVING EXPENSES. It was just an internet site with information as to how to donate. I think you could set up the same kind of account today and ask the public to donate to you.
Now that zimmerman's lawyer is in control, why don't you just go to the site and ask that question?

I think stand your ground laws are related because these laws are getting passed and supported by a public that believes (INCORRECTLY) that violent crime is rampant, that everyone needs a gun to protect themselves, and they don't want to have any duty to retreat when that violent criminal shows up in their lives, as the criminal surely will at some point. Even though statistics show conclusively that violent crimes in the U.S. have been steadily DECREASING during the past 20 years, the general public does not believe that's true. They think we are living in the TV and movie worlds of continuous action and violence around every corner and that's why we need to be able to carry guns ANYWHERE and to have SYG laws.
Actually, in Florida "justified homicides" have tripled since SYG was enacted in 2005.
This is nothing more than a political put up for a judge and prosecutor and it looks like as attnybis is in on the back room deal that will keep the black kkk and the political magic negroes out of Stanford.

You're saying that the prosecutor, the judge, and zimmerman's attorney are in on some kind of deal to make sure zimmerman is convicted to keep "black kkk" (totally outrageous all by itself) and "political magic negroes" out of Sanford. Somebody's racism is showing, and I don't think it's the judge, prosecutor, and defense attorney's.
Please tell us how that deal works? How do the prosecutor, the judge, and the defense attorney get a jury to convict just because they want a conviction?
You know, this is not 1900, 1920, 1929, 1950....in what CENTURY are you lost? This is the highest profile criminal case in the country right now. Do you not realize this case is being focused on by legal experts all over the country, and criminal defense lawyers all over the country as well as prosecutors all over the country? Do you not realize that there are appeals of convictions on many different bases? Your total lack of knowledge of how the criminal justice operates at this level is just stunning and continues to be displayed over and over.
