haha I remember the movie. Classic. As I recall Cherry sadly had her circuits fried by an overflowing dishwasher, sending the hero on an intergalactic odyssey to replace her.
Japanese anime series Ghost in the Shell touched on this with android Geisha girls. The maintenance work would be nasty. Government regulations would require each android be sterilized and cleaned after each use. And why assume it would be only men customers? There could be male androids to service both female and male clients. Wonder if they would come with a selection of heads and organ sizes (breast, bottom, etc). Take the Henry Ford approach and mass produce with interchangeable parts. "I want an Asian woman with green eyes to tame the savage heart!" (love that movie. Never tire watching it).
