Alexander is corrupt as hell. His only goal is competing with his family's history regardless of the effect that it has on Floridians. Creating a 12th state university, during a period where higher education is having financial difficulties, in between two large state universities in major metropolitan areas (UCF and USF) is a horrible decision that was heavily influenced by other means.

Florida gets ridiculed because Floridians continually see the train coming (with lights glaring and horns blaring), choose to stand on the tracks and get railroaded for the sake of party lines. No one can get mad at Rick Scott. He's doing exactly what he said he was going to do and people voted for him because he was the "teabag" choice to stand up to the president, not help the state as everyone is finding out. You can pretty much put Alexander in the same category. Remember, money looks out for money. At least JD's time is up.
