I just saw on the news the tearful mother who was ousted as a Cub Scout Den mom for the "crime" of being a lesbian. Having been a den mom for five years myself, I know the joys and trials of the job. I also know that finding willing volunteers isn't easy. How sad that this Pack is now without a den mom for that grade level because of a mom's sexual orientation.

Wow, that is a bummer.

I can tell you, being a Den Leader is a lot of work , and if the woman was willing to work with the boys, they are good with me. I really don't think 7-12 year old boys care much about a grown ups "orientation."

It should not be an issue, IMO.

We do have to do a faith statement, so religion is part of it. I could care less about all that (it is between them and their parents). But I just tell my boys that following the Golden Rule is a statement of faith to me. It's nondemoninational, and even athiests would probably agree it makes good sense.

If you don't like the rules go find an other organization to join.

Quit being the victim.

Quite honestly if you signed the petition and your not part of the organization then you should have no say. I would bet most people who signed the online petition dont give a **** about the Boys Scouts just their frothing at the mouth blind support of the Gay Agenda to destroy any group that dosen't accept their warped and unnatural view of life and society.

Tyrrell was aware of the organization’s anti-gay policy and expressed her concerns.
“The cub master assured me at the local level there’d be no problem,” she said.
She did nothing wrong. They needed her so it was fine. Now it's not because..I'm not exactly sure. Someone complained to National but there are few details as to why.

This is horrible to read. Since when did sexual preference outweigh the advantages of being a wonderful mother? And a wonderful volunteer? I don't get it.

She did nothing wrong until the point she made her self the victim.

Again at that point she wanted the organization to change for her view on life she was in the wrong and everyone that supports her being the victim.

Who ever gave her the green light and approved her to be the troop leader was in the wrong.

Society and unnatural? I guess Women don't need to vote and blacks should be slaves. I guess you want to go back to what the colonies had, a Puritan society? Or should we go even further back? Because society's "natural" changes from day to day.

I guess she was a test-tube baby, as she's unnatural.

I might agree with you if there were twenty gay people in the entire population, but there are a fair amount of gays in the US, so I'm pretty sure it's natural.

My guess, as a former GS troop leader, is that if it's a choice between a involved den mother who is a lesbian or nothing the locals will pick the involved den mother who is a lesbian regardless of "national" rules. Remember, the alternative is NOTHING. It's like every other big divide we see between ideology and reality, it often doesn't work.
