HICAGO (CBS) – Is there a secret plan to evacuate some residents of Chicago in the event of major trouble during the NATO summit next month? CBS 2 has uncovered some evidence that there is. It comes from the Milwaukee area branch of the American Red Cross.
CBS 2 News has obtained a copy of a Red Cross e-mail sent to volunteers in the Milwaukee area.
It said the NATO summit “may create unrest or another national security incident. The American Red Cross in southeastern Wisconsin has been asked to place a number of shelters on standby in the event of evacuation of Chicago.”
According to a chapter spokesperson, the evacuation plan is not theirs alone.
“Our direction has come from the City of Chicago and the Secret Service,” she said.
The press conference included Mary Dean of Voices for Creative Non Violence, recently returned from Afghanistan. A solemn mood fell over the crowd as Dean recalled the massacre this week of 16 family members by a U.S. soldier. She called on everyone to march for an immediate end to the U.S. and NATO occupation.
Jan Rodolfo of National Nurses United said that they would join CANG8 on May 20, but also would rally on May 18 to call for a “Robin Hood Tax” on financial transactions.
Occupy Chicago and Veterans for Peace spoke, as did a spokesperson for a delegation of human rights defenders and church leaders from the Philippines. Rev. Felixberto Calang of the Philippine Independent Church revealed that US troops are involved in military exercises, and that the government of Benigno Aquino III is continuing human rights violations, including torture, disappearances and murder of faith based activists for social justice.

When leftists such as the Occupy Whatever kooks gather, they often trash a place, crime rises, thefts and rapes increase, the kooks fight the police etc., so the authorities caution people to get away from them.
When conservatives such as the TEA party gather, they are peaceful, don't trash the place (actually they sometimes leave it CLEANER than they found it, picking up whatever trash is already there), and there is no crime or aggravation from within their ranks. But leftists sometimes come in to counter them, and the authorities caution people to avoid the leftists who push and shove, trash the areas near the TEA party people, battle police etc.
So yes, the authorities have to be on the alert whether the gathering is Occupy-Whatever people, or TEA party people. But in both cases, it's leftists who cause the trouble, and that the authorities have to concentrate on dealing with.
