I've seen a ton of news stories about people proposing right after their partner returns from overseas. It's quite clear that the people upset about this have a strong anti-gay bias. The news has this crap on all the time about people proposing after returning from deployment. Plus, the couple said that it was on facebook when it got picked up by the news. So it's not like they planned it as a major publicity stunt. Some people just hate gay people and will complain about anything that makes the life of gays a little happier or a little easier in this country.

And I'm not sure I really believe you. If somebody posted a thread on here titled: "Male Vet Proposes to Marine Girlfriend on Base After Returning From Afghanistan" I'm suppose to believe you would be posting similar comments of disgust in it? (not that such a story would even make the news seeing as how it's probably somewhat common and a complete non-issue).
