I just find it mind boggling to think that people are actually convinced that Obama is fighting this "war on terrorism" any smarter than his predecessor.

Because saying they WILL WANT TO KNOW means they don't know.

Uh, I've never siad these full scale invasions/occupations had a point.

Since we obviously didn't start asking those questions after the debacle of Vietnam I'm not optimistic we ever will.

I have to disagree with BURDELL on this. It is not our job to "police" Al Qaida and never has been. They are an inter-Islamic political movement and our interference in foreign political squabbles is not only foolish but very expensive and ultimately futile. Our actions create nothing but hatred, unnecessary death and destruction and greater debt for us.

I am amused, in a disgusted way, that we are STILL trying to suppress Islamic rebels in the Philippines 120 years after we took over that job from the failing Spanish Empire. Are we just too dumb to realize that there is both a religious and an economic aspect to the rebellion? The religious conflict is between the Catholicism of the ruling owner’s class in Manila and the Muslim peasants slaving on the sugar and cotton plantations in the boondocks. (Bondok is a town somewhere in the Philippines) these people were getting screwed over by the Spanish since their conquest in the 1600’s and are still fighting back. We have no place hunting Muslim Rebels in this country or any other. Countering these insurgencies is the problem for the ruling elites. If anything we should be aiding the rebels. We have become the Thugs of the World for the benefit of an exceedingly small set of investors. That is not only wrong but on the wrong side because these economic insurgencies always win.

Besides; which side are you on? The rebels or the Empire? Obiwan or Vadar? I side with the rebels.

Becaues wasting YEARS in invasion/occupation of an entire country that's done NOTHING to you and represented NO imminent threat makes more sense to you than selective strikes on known enemy?

True, but you can not deny there is MUCH more detachment in pressing a few buttons, as opposed to stabbing someone in the gullet.

Rebels of course! Besides you can't go wrong with Master Yoda, and YES Greedo did shoot first, lol!

I'm guessing trying to link Obama to Bush is the GOP's latest misdirection because it's becoming evident in more and more threads.

They wouldn't DARE link Romney to St. George, so they'll just try and fool the true believers into believing that not only has George now been labeled as "bad," (after 8 years of idolizing him), he's now Obama!

I thought I'd been as astonished as I could be by the excuses the Republibot's can come up with to deny Obama any credit for anything, but I must admit this new red herring beats anything I ever imagined they'd be capable of.

Are people REALLY dumb enough to believe Obama equals more Bush when, in fact, it would be Romney who equals more Bush?

I'm guessing it would be dumber to try differentiating between Obama and Bush. But then again, I suppose the letter beside their name is different so that's enough.

The fact is every President since Ike has greatly supported the military-industrial complex that Ike warned us about.
