White people did the same thing to each other in Europe. My people, the Irish, were treated real bad by the English till maybe 100 years ago. American Indians did that same thing here in what is now the US and Mexico. Asians don't always play well with each other either.
Africa: white people were only really there for maybe 80 years then they left before most of us were born. What the Blacks do to each other today in Somalia, Congo and so on CAN'T be put on the white man cause they have no power there.
And I was responding to a poster who said that Africans who were native to the continent had more class than blacks that were born here. Yeah, the Irish were treated badly by the English, it is not on the same scale as what Europeans have done to Native Americans, Africans and a variety of indigenous peoples all over the planet. It just isn't. Tribal feuds and "not playing well" with each other aren't the same as hundreds of years of genocide, inequality and murder based on race. No matter how you try to spin it, it isn't the same. It isn't about making excuses or not doing better. I do believe that people should move on and that although racism does exist, it is not powerful enough to keep a person from being successful in this country and in this day and age, but something on such a large scale would have have a negative impact on a culture.
EdwardA: Ho hum. It appears the victims worked for the local newspaper. They're probably ex-liberals now.
Pathetic how the OP wants to lynch every liberal so badly he will say they are "probably ex liberals". You seem overjoyed by the beating, as if it is ok to beat someone because they are liberal. And you imply that viciously being beaten means you now hate black people because something bad happened with black people. By your logic, hope Betty White doesn't whap you with her walker, you'll hate white haired people too
I am black and most of the Africans that I meet in the US are very nice people, but please don't act like the continent is full of shining examples of economic and political success. Why is this...could it be colonialism and exploitation...hmm? It isn't just Africa that was exploited and had land stolen. Ever stopped to think that something like this would have an affect on the natives?
Colonialism and exploitation? These African woman and their friends that spend part of their summer at my place...WERE the children of exploiters...One of their fathers were in government...the other was businessman- and the other a fighter pilot trained by the Russians...I guess these young woman were from the elite.
I understand what you are saying...What I noticed was there was a difference in attitude compared to the poor 'project' blacks in Toronto- They were not bitter because they were privledged - They had not been beaten down to the point that they felt inferior.
It's social and economic environment that effect the way people feel about themselves...and yes..Some Nations in Africa have problems...so have less than others.
you people ever read up on the attacks in South Africa, on the white Dutch-descended citizens, by the native Africans?
They largely happen in the same way and at same ratio, as in this thread..
in fact, while you're at it, take a look at South Africa itself - this's what it looks like when left to it's 'native state' as it were..
look very closely: The Death of Durban
as well as here: The Death of Johannesburg
forgive potential off-topicness, however I feel it may provide for a more broadened general 'perspective' on such matters
You won't likely survive shooting into a crowd of 100 thugs.
AR-15, should suffice.
