Because there is a high worldwide demand for energy and the world is beginning to realize subsidizing pollution is not smart in the long term.

You mean like giving tax breaks and subsidies to oil and gas companies and other energy producing companies? Are you that ignorant that you don't the government investing in all different energy sources?

Your analogy is disrespectful of their accomplishments.
They weren't born and brought up in Tristan de Cunha either.

It does? Quick, email the engineers and scientists this find so they can calculate this new finding into their overall plans! Thank you, without realizing the sun doesn't shine 24 hours a day we have averted a major waste of money.

With unfunded mandates more than ~$100 Trillion, it's clear that government is not the "cheaper" option. Everyone should know that by now.
The US government has been instrumental in supporting and cultivating many key industries in today's modern world, that is fact. Energy production and security isn't going to be something left up to private companies, as it never has, and never will. Government is going to play a key role in this so just get over it.

I think that was the plan, when we watched Al Qaeda's back and supported Saddam, supported Pakistan against "evil" India.

Have you ever considered that by developing ways to rely less on liquid fuels that have to be shipped and trucked in is part of the plan of keeping the enemy at bay?
