"Disorderly conduct" is not a crime. A person who is legally a man used the women's bathroom. A ticket was in order.
I'm not sure how you define "crime," but in Texas "Disorderly Conduct" is a misdemeanor offense. And a ticket was not in order. He's the Texas Penal code and the specific law defining "Disorderly Conduct." How did this women violate it?

I define "crime" as a felony. Not sure how the law defines it but I don't consider a minor misdemeanor of using the wrong restroom as a "crime".
Quote:
Under Texas law, Witherspoon must have acted "intentionally or knowingly for a lewd or unlawful purpose" to be cited with disorderly conduct.
None of us were there. We don't know what all transpired or how much fuss the transgendered person put up proclaiming the right to use the women's restroom. Maybe he/she pissed off the officer with his/her reaction and he gave out the ticket because of that. I do agree that the humane thing would have been to let this person off with a warning.

You're the one who claimed the ticket was warranted. Based on the information reported and the law as written, how did you come to that conclusion?
I gave you my reason. If you don't understand it, not my fault.
Haha.
Your first 2 posts state that you would probably report this women to the police too and that it was proper for the officer to ticket her. I asked what your reasoning was for your stance since to me it seems her actions violated no laws. You answered by saying that maybe she got the ticket because her reaction pissed off the officer (apparently that's your "reason").
Are you saying that maybe pissing off a police officer gives that officer proper reason to ticket somebody for an offense she did not commit?
