Myself I would never own a pit bull because I would always be afraid it would end up biting someone and I couldn't get house insurance also.

A new ruling makes it easier for anyone attacked by a pit bull or pit bull mix in Maryland to take legal action against the dog's owner.

The Maryland Court of Appeals ruling declares pit bulls as a breed are "inherently dangerous," and the owner of a pit bull or a cross-bred pit that attacks is strictly liable for damages, as is any landlord who rents to a pit bull owner.

Didn't need court ruling to know that one.

Pitbulls for some reason just cater to the lowest common denominator and they suffer for it.

It's good that they're holding owners responsible, but I disagree with an entire breed being found "dangerous". I love pits, never been bitten by one, but there was that one Queensland Heeler that found my hand tasty...

****ty owners results in ****ty dogs. Good owners take the time to train and socialize their animals.

If all it takes is a good owner why don't more folks have bears and tigers and lions etc. as pets? There is a reason for that too.

Yeah. What do YOU think the reason is? Because I think it probably has something to do with the fact they're wild (and/or endangered) animals several times bigger than a human and much more unpredictable than a dog, which we've pretty much exclusively bred to be trainable. I suppose I should be stunned that you attempted to compare things that aren't really comparable, but in all honesty I am not.

It's okay, though. I'm sure that any prejudices anyone has against pits will never be resolved, partly because pit bulls make such a nice target (people are already afraid of them and many people don't even know what a real pit looks like...)

Sure they're comparable. Ask a kid who's had their arm ripped off if they would rather have a pit bull do it or a tiger. I don't think they'd really care. They are dangerous no matter what you wild eyed pit bull lovers say. It's always the same thing too........"Oh we'll Daisy (the pit bull of course) has never hurt a fly. We were shocked when he ripped that guy's head clean off". Gimme a break. Folks can fight off a yipper dog not a pit bull. That is the difference hero.

There are no bad dogs...just bad owners...who do not appropriately train or socialize their dogs. Unfortunately, many people who want pitbulls...are the very folks who should not have them.

Yep all the owners of pit bulls are bad owners??? Or only the ones who attack right? Like I said same line...........

"There've been no prior instances of this at all," Groce said. "It's like, Sissy, she would just jump up on your lap and lick your face, until we got the other puppy."

"Everybody gives a pit bull a bad name. It just depends on how they're raised," he said. "I think I raised them properly."
