Rather than start a discussion about the system I would like to know who thinks are tax system as it is actually works well.
My answer is a simple no. I do not know how to set this as a poll but would be happy if someone set it up as a poll

No it doesn't b/c it isn't progressive enough. There needs to be a fair cap on what the gov't is allowed to take from you, and there needs to be an understanding that every dollar of income is not created equal, and so needs to be taxed accordingly.

Apparently your school system works just as well as our tax system.

To answer your question though while it does work to collect money for the government it does not work to actually do anything positive IMO.

People forget that complexity makes for regressivity, because only the rich can afford the armies of tax lawyers to lower their taxes. So what is libs typical answer to the problem of regressive taxation? Why, more complexity of course. Tax credits for having kids, tax credits for hiring people, etc.

I think taxes need to be addressed first and then right after that is done address spending. Hard do a budget unless you know what your income is. Most forms of tax reform are predicted to actually bring in more revenue while most of us would pay less, amazing ain't it. Which begs the question, why hasn't it been done, is it because the rich and powerful do not want it? The answer is for us the Voters to DEMAND it.
