The problem with these discussions is that no one really defines what socialism is. People point to countries as being good examples of "socialism", like Sweden or Germany, or they point to bad examples like Greece and Spain.
Given the rather divergent outcomes in terms of "socialism" it would seem like there are some aspects of "socialism" that are good and some that are bad.

Public libraries here in the USA are by no means example of socialism... especially if & when it was introduced when capitalistic USA is doing well, capitalism provides that *donor* (successful owner of XX co.) of that library the profits to give via their own charities to contribute to the good of his fellow people *is* what makes it happens (how many libraries are dedicated to who???). If capitalism is so bad.... why does communistic China believes in taking after business models of USA's capitalism to capitalize on US$ having factories make products so their country can gain economically??? Yet, keeping government & their beliefs separate??? Yet communism / socialist attitude of allowing excuses for internal lazy people to thrive (eat as well even when they are not as productive), hence made inferior products that "they don't care" (work more / work little = same money.. so don't be fool to work more).

Actually, those countries are awash of immigrants. In fact, there was a huge outcry from Muslim immigrants in Denmark after the cartoon in the Danish newspaper of Mohammed being a terrorist was published. Remember that guy Anders Breivik in Norway who went on a shooting rampage against immigrants last year because he was xenophobic? There ARE many foreigners in those countries. Sorry! You lose!
