Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia, written collaboratively by the people who use it. It is a special type of website designed to make collaboration easy, called a wiki. Many people are constantly improving Wikipedia, making thousands of changes per hour. All of these changes are recorded in article histories and recent changes. For a more detailed account of the project, see About Wikipedia
How you can contribute Don't be afraid to edit – anyone can edit almost every page, and we are encouraged to be bold! Find something that can be improved and make it better—for example, spelling, grammar, rewriting for readability, adding content, or removing non-constructive edits. If you wish to add new facts, please try to provide references so they may be verified, or suggest them on the article's discussion page. Changes to controversial topics and Wikipedia's main pages should usually be discussed first. Remember – you can't break Wikipedia; all edits can be reversed, fixed or improved later. Wikipedia is allowed to be imperfect. So go ahead, edit an article and help make Wikipedia the best information source on the Internet!
I didnt say opinion, I said source.
Theres an enormous difference in the 2 words, you know.
I don't really think that's true. All parents have special relationships with their children, they are special because they are unique. If you are talking about parental gender influence and modeling, just having 2 parents of different genders is not always a good thing if one of them is ineffective. In my opinion having 2 involved parents who love their children, and surrounding the family with people who offer positive influence is optimal.
One might add that same-sex couples only get to raise children if they extend a lot of effort and planning, where traditional couples quite often raise children they didn't intend to have in the first place.
I'm not saying that lesbians raising a child is a tragedy, imo it's just not as optimal.
Daughters have a special relationship with their fathers and mothers have a special relationship with their sons. These relationships can't be substituted with someone of the same sex.
As most same-sex couples foster and/or adopt - and there's a serious lack of foster parents - the alternatives for the kids aren't growing up in a "traditional" family, they're more along the lines of growing up in an institution. Which I take we can agree sucks worse?
Million Moms is a hate group, this isnt the first thread about them on here.
So, you think JCP should bow to pressure from a hate group?
Glad you're not my stockbroker.
Of course.
If there is a large group of consumers that could impact the bottom line of a company, they should try to have representatives and adds that are appealing to everyone and do not offend. To alienate potential customers and involve political views in adds is an act of idiocy by a corporation. The board should ask for heads over it.
You are mixing emotion with buisness and the two should never meet.

One supposes Disney should do away with their gay days since the southern baptists get in such a snit about it every year, based on your logic.
Funny how they dont.
I'm not mixing emotion with business at all, but thanks for being concerned.

You're not familiar with market segmentation, I take it? There's a name for "appealing to everyone", and that's "bland". Unless you have a megabrand like Coca-Cola, you're better off focusing your marketing. If the people who dislike meddling busybodies such as the (so-called) Million Moms walk away with a better impression of JCP, that can work in JCP's favor.

Just about everything is political. Starbucks decided to stress the green image and fair trade practices, and they're making money hand over fist.
The Hummer vehicle series was deliberately marketed to those enamored with conspicuous consumption, and they did quite well for a while. I wouldn't touch one with somebody else's ten-foot pole, but there's no denying they found a niche.

Consumer decisions are quite often based on emotions. I, for one, am now considerably more aware of JCP's brand and the corporate attitudes they wish to project, and I like what I'm seeing. And yes, that's purely emotional - I have no idea of their price level nor of the quality of their goods, but they're on my radar now.
After its protest of two women kissing in an Urban Outfitters catalogue and a failed attempt to get get JCPenney to fire its new spokesperson Ellen DeGeneres, One Million Moms is now protesting the inclusion of a married lesbian couple and their daughter in a JCPenney's catalog.
To protest, One Million Moms has encouraged its members to voice their concern personally at JCPenney stores, but the response from JCPenney personnel has been less than sympathetic:
"'Last time OMM contacted JCPenney store managers, we were brushed off,' the statement said. 'Some even experienced in person the store manager saying "Thank you" and walking off while their customer and our concerned members were in mid-sentence.' It continued: 'OMM has been told that JCP corporate office told store managers to say "Thank you" and then walk away.'"
I just saw one of those "He went to jared" commercials. I can't believe the way those heteros are shoving their sexuality down our throats! It is completely disgusting!
