"In light of the May Day arrests of the Cuyahoga 5, the Occupy Wall Street–affiliated group of men who planned to blow up a bridge in Cleveland, Ohio, I called the Southern Poverty Law Center to find out of they had any plans to start tracking the Occupy movement...'They were anarchists,' he repeated.
"Yes?'
He paused. 'We’re not really set up to cover the extreme Left. We only ever cover left-wing groups when they have a right-wing component, he told me. For example, 'when anarchist groups are infiltrated by those on the right; Neo-Nazis, that sort of thing.'”

And yet the media is tied at the hip to these people at SPLC.
So the Southern Poverty Law Center says-
that peaceful TeaPartiers are terrorists,
but the violent, anti-semitic, scat-loving Occupiers are "anarchists"
okayy?
Well, that throws them into the dust bin of irrelevance!
I always like how people come in with their discounts of links, etc. based on their being labeled a "hate group" by the SPLC and we are all supposed to be intimidated into not using any information from those sites - because these totally BIASED idiots say so???
They were a group, weren't they? It wasn't one lone anarchist. It was a group of them who intended to do harm. The OP is indeed correct. It is hypocrisy.

They say no such thing.
Can you try and make an argument without spouting mistruths?

Nope. It's just you hoping to smear liberal groups.
Sorry we don't murder people for political motivations.
I first became aware of the Southern Poverty Law Center years ago when Morris Dees went to Portland, Oregon to file (and win) a civil lawsuit on behalf of the family of a young Ethiopian man who was beaten to death with a baseball bat, proving that Tom Metzger's white supremacist group was liable for the death.
Morris Dees won a 12.5 million dollar judgement against Metzger, pretty much crippling him financially.
Quote:
The group was eventually bankrupted as the result of a civil lawsuit centered on its involvement in the 1988 murder of Mulugeta Seraw, an Ethiopian man who came to the United States to attend college. In 1988, white power skinheads affiliated with WAR were convicted of killing Seraw and sent to prison. Kenneth Mieske said he and the two others killed Seraw "because of his race."[10] Metzger declared that they did a "civic duty" by killing Seraw.[11]Morris Dees and the Southern Poverty Law Center filed a civil suit against him, arguing that WAR influenced Seraw's killers by encouraging their group East Side White Pride to commit violence.[12][13]
At the trial, WAR national vice president Dave Mazzella testified how the Metzgers instructed WAR members to commit violence against minorities. Tom and John Metzger were found civilly liable under the doctrine of vicarious liability, in which one can be liable for a tort committed by a subordinate or by another person who is taking instructions. The jury returned the largest civil verdict in Oregon history at the time—$12.5 million—against Metzger and WAR.[14] The Metzgers' house was seized, and most of WAR's profits go to paying off the judgment.
Morris Dees and the Southern Poverty Law Center are heroes.
