It will only get worse because of the mindset of alot people. they justify their obesity because they have a million excuses: big boned. thyroid, have no time to work out, can't afford healthy food (you know because letttuce cost too much), car dependant society, family history, I've done every diet in the book for about 2 days and couldn't drop any weight, so I quit. I can't wait for somebody to use this excuse, you can't use BMI as a measure because its not accurate. You have many professional athletes that are muscular but are overweight. This excuse is stupid because how many people are walking around with 10% bodyfat?

Well, IQ is better demonstrated than spoken off. So I will leave it at that. But, obesity is a problem everywhere, more so in states like Texas. And while some of it has to do with habits, not all of it does.

Most of it has to do with habits, like being lazy.... only a very small % have it genetically

Texas has no more fat people than NY for sure.... having lived in both states and observed people

When it comes to NY, my personal experience is limited to urban settings, especially NYC, where I don't see much of an obesity problem and certainly not comparable to Texas at all. So, there is some truth to activity level being an issue. However, not all of it is. May be people should start looking at those harmones they put to plump up cows and chickens?

Go over to the other boroughs and you will find high levels of fat people.... upstate NY is very fat in general too..... yes, more so than Texas

I understand you hate Texas.... so I don't expect to to be realistic..... again, I actually lived there for the first 22 yrs of my life while you visited sparingly

The issue of lifestyle vs food has become somewhat partisan... the left wants to blame it on food so to control peoples diets...... however, everyone knows how popular fast food was in the pre computer generations and far lower obesity levels

The food has not changed, lifestyles have.... for the worse

My first thought exactly.

I'd expect we'd reach at least 50% by the end of next year.

Tell me something. How do you fat people get so huge with those bellies that stick out so big? Do you always keep food at an arm's reach? Do you have a mini fridge in the bedroom with plenty of delightfully tasty food and snacks in it and, of course, BEER? Do you always order two Big Macs, never one? Even in nice restaurants, only order fried food, including french fries? What a merry life of FOOD!

thyroid, big boned, family history, don't have time, can't afford healthy food, tried 20 different diets, but nothing works, etc. There is your answer.
