In case you don't know: Paul Krugman is an American economist, Professor of Economics and International Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University,and Centenary Professor at the London School of Economics, and an op-ed columnist for The New York Times. No surprise. The democrats are at least as corporatist if not more than the republicans. Two sides of the same dime.

That is true. Wall Street always does well. Main Street not so good.

Perhaps when you start from election day, then go forward with percentage comparisons only.

At the election of a Democrat president, Wall Street knows to bottom out at that point. From there, there is no place to go but UP!

You would have to look at the real growth of GDP tracked along with the S&P to get real comparison figures between administrations.

I asked my broker about this in 1992 as I was concerned about Clinton. He told me that the market always does better when a Democrat is in the White House.
I never verified.
