"The prosperity gospel preached by Paul and Janice Crouch, who built a single station into the world’s largest Christian television network, has worked out well for them."
"Mr. and Mrs. Crouch have his-and-her mansions one street apart in a gated community here, provided by the network using viewer donations and tax-free earnings. But Mrs. Crouch, 74, rarely sleeps in the $5.6 million house with tennis court and pool. She mostly lives in a large company house near Orlando, Fla., where she runs a side business, the Holy Land Experience theme park. Mr. Crouch, 78, has an adjacent home there too, but rarely visits. Its occupant is often a security guard who doubles as Mrs. Crouch’s chauffeur."
It's crazy that in 2012 the business of religion still gets tax exempt status. Goofy theme parks that perpetuate myths as facts, and fat cat prosperity preachers (pimps) getting to reep the financial rewards of selling a delusion untaxed. What a shame. How "believers" can keep falling for this obvious con escapes me.

What are the particulars? If they took a salary they paid taxes on that stuff.
If it is a mansions within the church stayed with the church then the preachers really don't own it.
They have use of good stuff, but it may not be their property.
So either they paid taxes or it isn't theirs.
As far as your hateful rant on religion, well that spoke for itself.
churches should be taxed. if not they should be made to engage in community and social services to the poor in the amount they would of been otherwise taxed.

Read the entire article and you shall find your answers. You act as if the "church" is a real entity. People operate the church, spend the money and pick the mansions to live in.
I'm glad you noticed my anti-religious rant. I was trying to lay it on pretty thick. I noticed your lame apologetics for obvious theives.

TAX THE CHURCHES!!!!!!!
Don't make the mistake of mistaking the Church for the church.
The Church (capitalized) is the whole body of the followers of Christ, while the church (un-capitalized) is man-made religion.

They're not the same thing.
Actually the Church is a large man-made religion and the church(s) are small man made religions. They're the same, just different sizes.
