Come on. Gay marriage is the farthest thing from an entrepreneur's mind as it can get. Target market and profitability is the focus, not homosexual sex. And big corporations? PSSSH. Not on their radar either.
Wrong, wrong, wrong. Did you notice all the ads in North Carolina by CEOs saying passing this bill would make it difficult to attract the best talent for their companies? Again, did you notice how few tech companies are in red states? The best and most educated do not want to live there and the companies don't move there because they can't get the best talent.
Eventually same sex marriage is going to be just another part of American life.
The biggest bloc of peoople against same sex marriage are older Americans. The biggest advocates of same-sex marriage are younger Americans.
It's just a matter of time.
Once the 15-20 million Catholic aliens acquire citizenship, social attitudes towards gay marriage will shift. And not in the direction you want.
Also, as long as Black men abandon their children at a rate of 70%, we can continue to count on misogynistic, homophobic behavior from their spawn as well. Meanwhile, the feminist liberal women and emasculated liberal men continue to post low birth rates, while rural, traditional Whites continue to "pop em' out".
Future demographics in this country are not trending liberal, to say the least.
I work in tech. Notice there are not too many high tech companies in red states? Did you notice that? Did you notice the voter turnout in the Triangle area? They did not support Amendment One at all. IT is lucrative and progressive. If you think attacking gays will attract high tech companies, you are sorely mistaken. You might attract some really nice button factories though.
Your assumption about "not too many high tech companies in red states" is just mindless blather. For whatever reason, you consider IT to be the only "high tech" industry out there. That's your fallacy, and you use it because it fits your agenda. But it's not accurate. Not in the least.
You are certainly welcome to stick your head in the sand. I won't be joining you:
Yes, thats so insightful
Pretty typical Liberal of today.... can't you read?
I agree with you regrding the issue of gay marriage..... it SHOULD be legal.... but don't you think that calling names only brings you down to their level?
I enjoy the high road... far above the sand thank you

And a big key in driving the profitability in the Tech Industry especially is having a well educated work force. Education levels played a fairly large role in the results.

There is absolutely no objective evidence to back up your claims that anti-gay marriage amendments are the reason companies don't choose a state to set up operations. You're feeding off of media-driven propoganda. Don't be so gullible.

Is that really what you think? Younger generations are voting liberal. It's a fact. Right wingers are aging out and dying off. Future demographics in this country are not trending right wing to say the least. What's more, Republicans have gone after minorities, especially Hispanics, they are going after education by attacking college student loans, and they are trying to legislate female reproduction. There will come a time when the GOP convention can be held in the backroom of a 7-11.

Microsoft:
"As other states recognize marriage equality, Washington's employers are at a disadvantage if we cannot offer a similar, inclusive environment to our talented employees, our top recruits and their families. Employers in the technology sector face an unprecedented national and global competition for top talent. Despite progress made in recent years with domestic partnership rights, same-sex couples in Washington still hold a different status from their neighbors. Marriage equality in Washington would put employers here on an equal footing with employers in the six other states that already recognize the committed relationships of same-sex couples - Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont. This in turn will help us continue to compete for talent." Marriage Equality in Washington State Would Be Good for Business - The Official Microsoft Blog
