I think Romney may have gotten about a 3 point bump.

The ruling in question stated that "barring an individual from the protections, benefits and obligations of civil marriage solely because that person would marry a person of the same sex violates the Massachusetts Constitution."

It stayed the order 180 days "to permit the Legislature to take such action as it may deem appropriate in light of this opinion."

Many people, including Governor Romney, viewed this 180 day stay of execution as a chance to enact a civil union policy.

Governor Romney moved forward with efforts to promote civil union policy, but those efforts failed to materialize into law.

His view on gay marriage doesn't matter. He isn't a US Senator anymore. Only the Legislature is suppose to make laws. His published views on gay marriage is nothing more than election pandering.

Not really. Look at the key areas of those states. In NC for example the Amendment did very strong in the rural areas (both white and Republican and black and Democratic)

Regardless of Obama or Romney's view on the issue, Romney was going to win the white rural Republican areas and Obama was going to win the black rural Democratic areas.

Now if you look at the portions of the state that have surged Democratic and were a big reason for Obama's victory in 2008, were his massive margins in the Triangle and in Mecklenberg.

I really don't see this as hurting Obama as the areas in the state that were key to driving his victory in 2008 were the areas that were against the Amendment.

If you look at Virginia and the areas where Obama made the most gains compared to Kerry, Gore, etc, its not exactly in areas that would be against this. Its not like Obama improved with white rural voters in 2008. He gained ground with educated suburban voters. This sure as hell isn't going to hurt him in NOVA (which is what basically decided the state in 2008)

As far as Colorado, since you mentioned it in another thread

Quote:

– A majority of Coloradans support legalizing gay marriage, and only 22% feel there should be no legal recognition at all of same sex couples, a new poll from Public Policy Polling finds. 53% of Colorado voters say same sex marriage should be legal and 40% say it should be illegal. Voters also say they would support the Colorado legislature passing a bill that would let same-sex couples form civil unions by a 62-32 margin. When asked whether they support gay marriage, civil unions but not gay marriage, or no legal recognition at all of same sex couples, 47% choose legal gay marriage, 28% say civil unions and just 22% say there should be no legal recognition whatsoever of gay couples.
Coloradans support gay marriage - Public Policy Polling

Again in the case of Colorado, one key factor in boosting Obama in 2008 was the massive ground he gained in suburban Denver. Gay marriage might hurt in Colorado Springs or some of the further out areas of Denver, but they were not going to vote for Obama anyway. Its not going to hurt him in the core Denver suburbs, whose swing is a key reason the state is no longer GOP leaning.

A civil union is a very different thing. Maybe you should inform Mitt Romney what you have decided he believes, since he just reiterated this today.

Quick, name another President of the United States that has publicly stated he supports same-sex marriage while he was in in office?

How do you know that Biden just didn't "Prepare The Ground" so to speak.

Don't think that this hasn't been discussed BEFORE Biden's interview Sunday.
