"The Michigan Welfare Rights Organization..., headed by Maureen Taylor, has been telling Detroit welfare recipients to occupy foreclosed homes... “... there are 20 to 30 people in the hallway talking about ‘I don’t have any more money, my rent is due’... what can I do? And its unreal, because we don’t have answers except to say, ‘here’s a list of houses that we have intercepted that have been repossessed by banks, pick one and move in.’” To boot these trespassers out of the homes, banks are forced to take MWRO to court."

"...the Michigan Welfare Rights Organization says that Taylor has “given her life to fighting in the interests of the working class … She understands and educates that we must build a new society where we will not be facing homelessness, we don’t have to face a day without food, health care, quality and free education, etc.”

"Colloquially speaking, this is called communism. Taylor and her allies aren’t fighting for the working class. They’re fighting for the non-working class, who live off taxpayer dollars, then violate property rights."

Detroit Group Tells Welfare Recipients to Hijack Homes

So, people are evicted from their foreclosed homes and the Welfare Office tells them to move into someone else's foreclosed home?

This is what happens in a culturally corrupt, welfare state, where there is no incentive to work or maintain strong, self-sacrificing, intact families and lots of temptations for drugs and sex.

Welfare recipients don't get foreclosed because they don't own homes in the first place.

of course, nobody is going to do anything about yet more lawbreaking-because america is increasingly turning into a lawless country-where bad behavior is not only tolerated, but encouraged. (even among freaking non-citizen lawbreakers)

eventually, the "payers" are going to wonder why they bother to pay when there are thieves not paying all around them.

it's called "moral hazard" and i am sorry that this clueless administration, which encouraged the incredibly corrupt moral hazard of the bank bailouts, hasn't learned a damn thing.

this is how rome falls, and shame, shame, shame on them.

With homes selling for $500 in Detroit, there's really no good excuse to try to steal a home.

Besides - does the government pay all the utilities and everything else when welfare recipients are squatters?

I think she's learned from some of our University Professors who are offering class instruction on how to do just this:

"... radical CUNY professor Frances Fox Piven has offered her advice for some of Occupy’s most radical tactics. In a Skype interview with UC-Berkeley students recently, Piven seemed to offer a game plan by expanding on illegal, and possibly dangerous, actions the movement has toyed with before."

“How can we defend if the reoccupation of foreclosed homes grows in scale? How can we defend those houses that are occupied? How can we exert enough pressure so that the occupations become legal ownership? I think– there are real, big strategy questions.”

Some of the most evil, anti-American, Socialist/Commies are hard at work in our publicly funded Universities. I imagine the woman in the OP learned from some of the best on our dollar. And I'm sure she thinks she is doing the "right thing" and undoubtedly she will be voting for Obama and his misguided minions who will work hard to perpetuate this cycle of poverty and ill-fated government dependance.

Banks get 1.5 trillion dollars in bailouts and people condemn homeless people who squat in homes that banks have abandoned and have no interest in repossessing.

And who do we have to blame for both?

If someone breaks into your house and you are too lazy and don't care enough to call the cops, than I have no sympathy for you. Someone squats in my property, they best be prepared to get tossed out.

Banks can board up the homes, they can call the police and have the people arrested but they won't because they don't care about the homes. Non story, homeless people living in abandoned homes that owners don't want, oooooh, I'm outraged stop the presses
