There was a time that "being on the welfare" was a mark of shame. Even Eddie Murphy used it in a joke "you ain't got no ice cream cause your daddy's on the welfare". Now they brag about how much welfare they're getting.

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

"Do people really believe that members of Congress (whom Americans typically rate somewhere between lawyers and used car salesman in terms of popularity) are doing a great job? My guess is no. So why is it that the average incumbent has about as much chance of losing as he or she has of being hit by lightning on a summer day in Las Vegas?" "Last November, 94 percent (357 out of 377) of congressional incumbents seeking reelection succeeded." Why Incumbents Rarely Lose
We have precisely the government we ask for.
