The American infotainment channels finally air an international news story and then they fixate on it for days and days because of "socialism." If you're scared of socialism because of what margaret thatcher or ronald reagan or any of the politicians on the opposite side of the political spectrum has said about it, then don't move to France. The French have a leader that they elected through a democratic process unlike the corrupt one that we have here in this banana republic where money buys the seat.

There's no need to criticize the French for doing what works for them.
LOL, seriously?

What do we find? Germany and Austria are high social expenditure countries but are doing well and Ireland spends less and is doing badly. Let's also remember that Spain was booking budget surpluses before the crisis.
Don't you dare try to confuse conservatives with facts. Facts are bad. Charts give them psychological disorders.

What facts? The person mentions Germany and Austria, 2 countries that are def. not in heavy debt, and mentions Ireland---failing to realize that Ireland needs to cut back since it is in the deep red. Spain's surpluses were fairy tales, projected---sounds familiar?

I like the direction Mario Monti is taking in Italy.

You can tax people that don't work and don't buy stuff?
When did that concept start?

I was always taught you can't tax people that don't work and don't buy stuff? So Government gobbles up the wealth... What has that always led to?

The euro will last only as long as Germany believes it benefits them. Socialism will further entrench itself in Europe the poverty socialism induces produces more socialist voters.

It is odd then why the French are now fleeing to London if socialisim is the answer. You will soon run out of other peoples money....look at CA. The only way socialisim would work is if the government finally stops spending more and more and more making it necessary to tax more and more. Just has to crash....just look at Greece.

America would love to see Europe fail so they can self-righteously gloat that America does everything right all the time.

Well they will find the UK is not exactly a tax free haven either. You can tell them to flee to Canada since it is really France anyway!

Europe's way of life threatened in crisis - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
There was never Socialism in Europe.

Majority of Europe has a Social Market economy, and although it's the closest thing we have to actual Socialism today, it's not really Socialism.

That said, Europe's failures will be the same reason for America's failures soon, for depending on privately-operated central banks. Those who didn't get all mixed up into their banking institution's crap (such as Germany) will be perfectly fine.

That's too complicated for americans to understand.
Americans understand everything like this: either unregulated capitalism or communism.
