Fox news broadcasting the american version is allowed, as it spreads falsehoods about american issues. However the canadian version isn't. Fox went as far as to try and change federal law allowing them them lie, which was unsuccessful.
Fox had the choice to broadcast true, unbiased news, or not to broadcast at all. They chose the latter.
Both the attitude and the arguments put forth by the OP serve to demonstrate why the concept of Political Correctness is a threat to all of us (except, of course, the Politically Correct). The biggest Fascist at this site has clearly identified himself.
What is "true, unbiased news" and who gets to decide what it constitutes?
Just that, unbiased. Presenting news that is factual, and doesn't lean one way or the other.

What is being politically correct about asking a question if the US should have laws like canada that forbid networks that call themselves "news" from lying and spreading falsehoods?

Childish personal attacks, typical from the brainwashed radical right. I bet you don't even know what they word means, just that it "sounds scary"

Let them say whatever they want. Putting restrictions in place gets one into the very unsavory situation of figuring out who decides what is and is not factual news.
I may not like that so many people are so eager to be brainwashed and lied to by the Fox propaganda network, but that's better than having someone decide what can and cannot be said.
In an ideal world, such a rule would result in a more informed audience. In reality, it would be abused by whoever is in power to push their agenda.

Fox already has that. It's called the morning news. What you see on Fox from noon onwards is called commentary and opinion. There's a difference between news and commentary and opinion. Fox, MSNBC, and CNN all engage in commentary and opinion from at least noontime till the end of prime time.
You cannot watch the news here in the US - for the most part, it's commentary. To make it even worse, it's all too often commentary on irrelevant "news" stories - along the lines of whose cat got stuck on which roof and why. At best, most of the "news" here is simply entertainment.
Of course, then you have "news" papers - unfortunately, just about all them seem to get their "news" from the same source - hence, these stories always have a spin. Sometimes it seems abundantly clear that a news story was written by someone who is not only somewhat unfamiliar with the English language, but by someone who is, clearly, not in the US or anywhere close to it.
To me, it's mostly BS that you get to read.
Alas, it's not just an American problem - over the years, I've noticed this trend in several countries (and in a variety of languages).
However, it's a free country - they should be able to report as they see fit.
With the exception of a few idiots among the Religious Right, it is not those of us who subscribe to conservative opinions who seek to impose their version of the "truth" on all of us; that distinction fall upon the (pseudo-) Liberals and their followers who dominate the so-called "Mainstream Media".
With regard to the level of respect shown for dissenting views, I'll stick to my original observation.
