No....Barack Obama was able to attend one for 20 years.

I disagree. One of my favorite quotes is 'Well behaved women seldom make history' and I think it's very appropriate regarding this situation. Sometimes you have to make waves to get your point across.

I disagree, it all depends on the situation and the people involved. I have a few friends that don't believe in gay marriage, but since it doesn't affect them in any way shape or form, they could care less if it's legalized. Regarding marriage rights and the 'homosexual agenda', the more conservative people push against it, the more 'radical' I become. Personally, I think it's sickening that people are actively rallying against the legalization of gay marriage when it doesn't affect them at all.

According to the Supreme court, marriage is indeed a right.

My point is that I do not believe that anger, insults and false accusations are the best ways to 'make waves'. As a matter of fact, it is probably the worst.

I agree completely. It would be nice if, for a change, this issue could be discussed without the usual slurs that always seem to flow one-way.

This thread took an ugly turn back on Page 1 (specifically, Post #4) from which it has never recovered.

Anger is to be expected. If the public was actively trying to stop you from doing something that doesn't affect ANYONE, wouldn't you be a bit angry? What if a large group of people started banning Christianity and started tearing churches down? You'd just sit back and smile and hope they'd stop, right?

Honestly, I see more anger and hatred coming from the religious and from the people trying to ban gay marriage than I ever have coming from the pro gay marriage side. I mean, there aren't a whole lot of anti-gay people who have been tied behind pickup trucks, shot or murdered for their beliefs are there?

A very good friend of mine was kicked out of his house at 16 because he came out to his parents. His Father backed over him with his pickup truck in his driveway. This is the kind of stuff that happens and yes, I'm a tad bit angry over it.

Nonsense.

All you have to do is look at the vitriol of the pro-gay crowd here to see who the angry and hateful people truly are.

Its entirely defensive though. When Harrier calls them sickening deviants and when Roysoldboy and Mircea equate them with child molesters, why is a response from a gay person considered angry and hateful?

I think the outbursts come from being pushed into a corner. You can only push people so far before they're going to react, and then you can run around saying 'SEE, I TOLD YOU THEY'RE MEAN!!!' I see it all the time.

I find the pro-gay crowd here very level headed (for the most part, there are a few that even I think go too far) and intelligent.

I never called homosexuals "sickening" deviants - I said that their lifestyle is deviant.
